See quietly with your eyes closed.
Feel the surface beneath supporting you.
Imagine as you breathe in a warm golden light entering your body.
Start by taking a big deep breath in.
Breathe in and in and in.
Hold for a moment then breathe out and out and out and out.
Hold for a moment then breathe in again and in and in.
Hold for a moment then breathe out and out and out and out.
Once more breathe in and in and in.
Hold for a moment then breathe out and out and out.
As you continue to breathe deeply see your breath this warm golden light filling your body into your lungs,
Down into your legs,
All the way to your toes,
Down your arms,
To your fingertips,
Through your groin,
Into your core,
Up through your chest and into your head and crown.
You are completely filled with the warm golden light.
You are standing on the bank of a very large and still lake.
It's a beautiful warm summer's day and there is not a cloud in the sky.
The sun is beaming gently down on you.
There is no where you have to be but right here in this beautiful moment.
You begin to notice your surroundings.
The bank you are on is a narrow strip of sand and river stones.
Further up the bank the trees stand tall and proud bearing green healthy foliage.
The lake stretches out in front of you further than you can see with your naked eye.
Soft and gently lapping waves near your feet.
It is so still,
Very calm.
You can feel the stillness and serenity gently washing over you.
You gently bend over and pick up a few stones that are lying at your feet.
You toss the first stone into the still,
Still lake.
Ripples spread quickly towards you on the surface of the water.
As the ripples slowly fade and cause lapping of the water near your feet,
You throw in another stone.
The ripples from the second stone spread just as quickly as the first.
Treat any thoughts that arise in your mind like the ripples on the lake.
Allow the thoughts to pass and let them slowly dissipate into nothing.
Soft,
Still,
Peaceful.
You spy a small rowboat nearby.
You drift over to it.
Push the boat to the edge of the water,
Kick off your shoes and push the boat out onto the lake,
Climbing in after.
You take the oars in hand and idly row a few easy strokes.
That's sufficient.
It'll get you out just far enough.
You softly let go of the oars and the boat begins to drift.
You find that you can comfortably lie back and allow yourself to drift with the boat.
The water laps gently against the sides of the boat.
It's rhythmical and so very soothing.
It's time to slowly begin making your way back.
Know that you can come back here anytime that you choose.
You can carry the stillness of the lake back into an ordinary day.
It's always there as a touchstone for you.
Softly allow the boat to drift back to the bank and gently climb out.
Take one last long look at that still,
Still lake.
Feel the depth of the lake.
Feel its stillness.
Slowly start bringing your awareness back into your body.
Feel how your breathing softly rises and falls without your conscious intervention.
Now consciously take a big deep breath in.
Breathe in and in and in then out and out and out.
Once more breathe in and in and in.
Hold for a moment and breathe out and out and out.
Gently wiggle your toes.
Move your fingers gently.
Slowly stretch your arms out and up above your head.
Take one more big deep breath in.
Breathe in and in and in.
Hold for a moment then breathe out and out and out.
When you are ready knowing that you will take the stillness of the lake with you through your day softly open your eyes.
Feel that inner stillness and calm always there for you at any time that you need it.
