This brain retraining visualization will guide you through a magical experience building a campfire under a canopy of stars. We will explore the felt sense of peace and tranquility in the body as we immerse ourselves in nature. This meditation will be spoken in the first person and I invite you to imagine yourself walking along this path. Brain retraining visualizations use imagination to help reprogram the brain and can help us to change thought patterns, emotional responses and behaviours. By repeatedly practicing visualizations, we can strengthen health-promoting neural pathways, reduce stress, and regulate the nervous system, which can help in the recovery of chronic illness, trauma and anxiety. Hey this is Becky and welcome to this short guided visualization.

Visualization is a form of brain retraining that can be used for both relaxation and mood elevation.

This visualization will be spoken in the first person and I invite you to envision yourself walking along this path.

Try to focus on the felt sense of the experience in the body.

The practice will begin and end with the sound of a gong.

So take a moment to get comfortable in your space and relax into the support beneath you.

Then get ready to go on a magical journey of fire and stars.

I am on holiday in the Lake District in the UK.

I'm staying in a beautiful secluded cabin surrounded by fields,

Forest and a wild river.

It's a cool late summer's evening and I am outside at the fire pit.

It sits nestled next to the forest.

Trees tower above me to my right.

Birdsong floats around me like a symphony as the last of the evening light flickers through the trees.

I squat down and start to build a fire,

Piling up logs and kindling.

Feeling the rough edges of the wood against my fingertips.

I strike a match hearing the whoosh as the flame flickers to life.

I blow gently encouraging and smell the scent of wood smoke as it unsettles the ashes below.

The flames start to take crackling red,

Orange and gold.

I sit back on my heels and watch the flames flicker and dance.

I hold out the palms of my hands and feel the warmth of the fire.

I close my eyes for just a moment and feel.

I open my senses further and hear the sounds of nature around me.

The call of a sheep.

The distant sounds of a river flowing.

The beat of wings as a bird takes flight.

I feel the earth beneath my knees,

Solid and steady,

Holding me.

I lean back onto the bench behind me,

Letting it take my weight.

The last of the day's light is starting to fade and the air around me starts to cool.

I feel a slight chill and pull a thick blanket out of a basket at my side,

Wrapping it around my shoulders and my knees.

The wool feels so soft and comforting against my skin.

I sit here for a while and just be exactly as I am.

I feel calm and present,

Completely at one with the nature around me.

Time passes and slowly the sky around me starts to darken,

Melding from a rich deep blue to a dark inky black,

Inching closer and closer to night.

But it is perfectly clear and soon stars begin to appear above me,

Emerging from the darkness one at a time,

Almost popping into existence.

They glisten and sparkle against the black of the night.

I watch satellites track across the sky,

Tiny dots of light moving above.

And slowly the milky way comes into view,

Almost like a silver mist across the sky with a hint of gold and red.

Thousands upon thousands of stars light years away.

I feel into the expansiveness of the sky arcing above me.

The space,

The openness.

I feel an ease in my body as a sense of peace and tranquility floods through my system.

My whole body relaxes.

My jaw softening,

Shoulders releasing,

My chest opening.

I take a deep breath,

Cool fresh air filling my nose and lungs,

Oxygen coursing through my veins and I breathe it out in a sigh.

I glance back at the fire,

Watching the flames dance,

Vibrant in the dark of the night.

I hear an owl hoot in the forest just beside me,

And I feel a shiver of magic tingle down my spine.

And I watch as it swoops out of the trees,

Gliding across the field beside me,

Its white body and wings almost ethereal in the moonlight.

And I just watch,

My eyes wide with awe and wonder,

Opening myself up to the beauty,

The stillness,

The peace and tranquility of this magical place.

The fire crackles beside me,

Bringing me back to myself.

And a sense of oneness fills me,

A feeling that I'm exactly where I'm meant to be in this moment.

Thank you so much for joining me on this visualization.

I'd love to know what you thought of the practice and how it made you feel in the comments below.

I hope you have a beautiful day.
