This visualization will begin with a short grounding practice and then guide you through a brief walk in the forest coming to rest in a warm bath under the stars. We will explore all the senses as we fully immerse ourselves in nature, encouraging a sense of deep relaxation throughout the body. I encourage you to focus on the felt sense of the experience in your body. Brain retraining visualizations use guided imagery to help reprogram the brain and can help us to change thought patterns, emotional responses and behaviours. By repeatedly practising visualizations we can strengthen health-promoting neural pathways, reduce stress and regulate the nervous system, which can help in the recovery of chronic illness, trauma and anxiety. Welcome to this guided visualization.

I'm Becky and it's my pleasure to guide you today as we take a pause in our day to drift into stillness and relaxation.

We will start with a short grounding practice before moving into the visualization.

A short walk in nature,

Coming to rest in a warm bath under the stars.

Let yourself be immersed in the sensations as if this was happening right now.

The practice will begin and end with the sound of a gong.

So take a moment to get comfortable and bring your awareness back down from the head and into the body.

Feel your connection with the ground,

However that may be.

And see if you can let your body relax into the earth just a little bit more.

Take in a slow steady breath.

Imagine breathing in from the base of your feet,

All the way up your spine,

Right to the crown of your head.

And as you exhale,

Allow the air to come back down the body,

All the way down to the feet.

And two more times,

Breathe in,

All the way up,

Out,

Back down the body.

And in.

You are wandering through a pine forest.

It's evening and it's starting to go dark.

You hold a torch in your hand and its golden glow bounces along the path in front of you.

Everything softens at this time of night,

A stillness settling in the air.

But at the same time,

The sounds of the forest seem to intensify,

Highlighted by the quietness surrounding them.

You sense the aliveness all around you.

The animals and insects of the night time just waking up,

Rising from their slumber.

You hear an owl and its hoot echoes through the trees.

You feel your feet on the path as you walk,

Your footsteps crunching gently on the path.

The cool evening breeze caresses your skin.

Soft,

Gentle,

Refreshing.

Pine cones litter the ground below,

The occasional one cracking under your foot.

You approach the nearest pine tree and reach out for one of the ferns.

You let the needles glide through your fingertips,

Smooth and shiny,

Almost silky to the touch.

You raise it to your face and inhale deeply.

The rich smell of pine filling your nose,

Earthy and delicious.

You carry on walking and you start to see the glow from the cabin where you are staying in the distance.

It looks so warm,

Cosy and inviting.

As you step out of the edge of the forest,

You are bathed in moonlight.

You tilt your head to the sky and see a huge,

Full moon.

A perfect,

Pale,

Silvery orb hanging in a deep blue sky.

A horse brays gently in the field nearby and the sounds of insects buzzing vibrates in the silence of the night.

You head to the back of the cabin where a deep copper bathtub glitters in the moonlight.

It's under cover but the front side is open to the endless sky above.

You head over and turn the taps.

They squeak a little as water starts to cascade down into the tub and soon steam is filling the air.

As you wait for it to fill,

You stand looking up into the night sky.

Thousands and thousands of sparkling silver stars twinkle against an indigo backdrop.

You feel your feet on the steady ground and take a settling breath.

As the bath fills,

You place a few drops of essential oil into the water and inhale as the delicious fragrance drifts up with the steam and fills your nostrils.

You feel an instant sense of relaxation in your body.

You turn off the taps and slowly undress,

Feeling the cool night air against your bare skin.

You step into the huge tub,

Letting yourself sink down into the water.

It's so warm and it feels luxurious against your skin.

You scoop down the bath until it's right up over your shoulders,

Up to the base of your neck.

You feel the contrast of the cool night air on your face and the warmth of the water around your body.

Your focus drifts to the feeling of being held by the water,

Supported and nourished.

Your body relaxes even further as you feel your chest opening,

Your eyes softening,

Your forehead releasing.

Steam rises off the bath water into the night air and you breathe in deeply.

Feeling the moisture in your nose and lungs and the scent of lavender and myrrh.

You notice your thoughts slowing down,

Starting to come into equilibrium with that of the night.

Calmness,

A time to rest.

You gaze out once more at the sky.

The moon full,

Whole,

The stars glittering above the pine trees.

You watch satellites track in lines across the sky and you feel into the openness,

The infinite space above.

You sigh spontaneously as your body releases a little further,

Your shoulders and tummy softening.

Your muscles start to relax in the water,

The day's tension melting away.

A deep sense of peace,

Ease and contentment filling your system.

You listen intently to the sounds around you,

The whisper of the night's air through the trees.

The rustle of tiny creatures exploring the ground below.

The stillness,

The quiet,

But the aliveness that co-exists.

And a soft smile tickles the edges of your mouth.

As you rest,

A white owl swoops down,

Coming to perch on the fence just metres away.

Its wide amber eyes glittering in the moonlight.

You sense the magic in the air all around you.

Feeling it lift you,

Feeling it penetrate deep into your bones,

Deep into your cells.

Tingling,

Vibrating and nourishing your body with aliveness.

And you imagine the colour of rich midnight blue rising up into your feet.

Filling your legs,

Your hips,

Rising up through your tummy,

Your chest and spilling down into your hands.

Right to your fingertips.

You sense it moving through your neck and into your head and your brain.

Embedding this sense of peace and relaxation deep into your tissues.

Thank you so much for sharing this journey with me today.

I really appreciate you being here.

I would love to know how you found this practice in the comments below.

This is the first time I've used the third person,

You are,

Instead of the first person,

I am,

In these visualisations.

So I would love to know what you preferred.

Until next time.
