Hey,
This is Becky and welcome to this guided visualization.
Visualization is a form of brain retraining that can be used for both relaxation and mood elevation.
This practice will be spoken in the first person and I invite you to envision yourself moving along this path.
Try to focus on the felt sense of the experience in the body.
The practice will begin and end with the sound of a gong.
So take a moment to get comfortable and relax into the support beneath you and get ready to go on a magical journey.
I am walking through a field of long green grass.
My arms hang free at my sides.
My hands tickling through the grass as I go.
The ground beneath me feels so soft,
Almost bouncy under my feet.
Above the sky is a bright vibrant blue.
There's not one wisp of cloud.
It feels open and expansive.
I watch as the grass sways in the gentle breeze.
Lambs play in the field around me.
And a smile spreads across my face.
I feel the warmth of the sun dancing on my skin,
On my arms and the back of my neck.
I feel so good today.
My body feels strong and capable.
I feel confident.
And I am filled with a sense of joy and lightness.
I feel the freedom of being able to move with complete ease and comfort.
I feel the strength in my feet and my legs with every step.
As I walk,
I start to hear the tinkling sound of water in the distance.
I come upon a gate in the fence and step through onto a grassy riverbank.
In front of me stands a huge sycamore tree.
It's tall and strong and its long branches drape over the edge of the river.
The leaves are a vibrant green,
Almost glowing in the bright sunlight.
And hanging from its lower branches is a hammock swing.
It looks so inviting and I decide to climb in and get comfortable.
I lean back and relax,
Letting go of my body.
The material engulfs me like a big hug and tension in my muscles just melts away.
The hammock sways gently from side to side,
Rocking me.
The motion is so soothing.
I can feel my body calming.
It's heaven.
From my perch in the tree,
I've got a perfect view of the river.
The water is crystal clear and the sunlight dances off its surface,
Sparkling in a myriad of different colours.
The sound of water bubbling and gurgling fills my ears.
Tree leaves rustle gently around me in the light summer breeze.
And I feel it tickle gently at my cheeks.
Birds sing in the trees and I can hear the distant sounds of sheep.
It's absolute bliss.
My mind feels light,
Open as I sit.
I feel held by nature,
Completely present,
My body alive with sensation.
And as I sit,
I see a flash of turquoise sweep down the river with a hoot.
And I see a kingfisher come to land on a tree branch,
Hanging over the opposite side of the river.
It's bright blue with an orange breast,
So vibrant and beautiful in the sunshine.
After a little while,
I slip down from the hammock,
Feeling my feet plant on the earth gently.
The water looks so inviting,
So I climb down onto the little pebble beach,
Hearing the stones crunch beneath my feet.
I come to the edge of the river and sit down,
Slipping off my trainers and socks.
I dip my feet into the water.
It's really cold,
But it feels so good on my skin,
Refreshing in the warmth of the sun.
I wiggle my toes and feel the water flowing around my ankles,
My body grounded to the earth.
I feel the earth's energy flowing into my body,
Into every cell in my being.
My whole body vibrating,
Alive with energy.
The light shines through the trees and I tilt my head to the sky,
Closing my eyes and just feel.
The sun's rays warm my skin and I feel a smile stretch across my face once more.
And in this moment,
I feel truly,
Deeply happy.
I feel present and completely at peace in my body and in this moment.
And I imagine the bright turquoise colour of that beautiful kingfisher flood my body.
I feel it rise up through my feet.
Into my legs,
Filling my pelvis,
Filling my whole body with this cool,
Calm energy.
I imagine it flowing down my arms,
Into my hands,
And up into my neck and head.
I am alive and it feels so good.
Thank you so much for joining me on this guided visualisation.
I'd love to know how it made you feel in the comments below.
