Good morning dear mamas-to-be and good morning to your babies.
I say good morning because I'm always recording these things in the morning but maybe for you it's the evening which would make a lot of sense if you're doing this yoga nidra as well after maybe a long busy day.
So today's yoga nidra is going to be a beautiful,
Very grounding nidra,
Very earthy.
It's really a yoga nidra designed for you to relax deeply and feel your connection with earth,
With the earth element which is very very active and present in your body as a pregnant woman.
So in yoga we really consider that the two elements that you are communing with in pregnancy is earth and water.
Maybe you feel it,
Maybe you feel it inside yourself.
The water element is definitely present physically because you have the waters of your baby and a lot more liquids and fluids that are flowing through your body,
More blood etc.
So there is that and the earth is because creating a whole little human from scratch requires matter,
Requires that earth element and so you are literally pulling that element from around you,
From nature,
From the world,
From the universe to create this child.
So this is the idea and in today's nidra I want to honor that earth element that you carry,
That you are made of and that your baby is made of as well.
Maybe you even feel your connection to earth right now.
I know I felt it very much when I was pregnant,
Like much more able to be awed by the beauty of nature where I lived in the mountains and the lakes.
I felt very much a resonance with the forest and the trees and the ground underneath me and I felt really like part of this cosmic dance and close to her,
Like mother earth.
We can call her so many different names.
I like this sentence that I use from Uma Dwindsmore Tuli,
A great yoga teacher and feminist and activist in this yogic world and she says she whose body is the earth and I find that so beautiful,
This sentence,
This metaphor,
Which is more than a metaphor,
It's literally she whose body is the earth.
So maybe you feel a resonance too with her that is there with you every step of the way and that is the other mother birthing this baby together with you.
You're not alone.
You're not alone in this process.
So let's dedicate this Libra to she whose body is the earth and you are the perfect embodiment of her right now.
So I invite you to prepare yourself for this Libra,
To find your position,
Your comfy position,
Most likely lying down on your back or on the side if you prefer.
I even can suggest that you lie down directly on the floor,
On the ground,
If that can be comfortable for you,
Using yoga mats or cushions,
Anything that might make it more comfortable,
So that you don't feel the urge to move so much in the next 20 minutes.
Of course you're welcome to make adjustments anytime in this Libra if you need it.
It's not so strict of a practice that you can't move.
When you're pregnant the most important is to listen to your body,
What it signals to you and to respond to that.
And as always bringing supports,
Cushions,
Blankets to create your nest,
Your Libra nest,
In which you will be completely at ease,
You will feel warm even though you're not moving for the next 20 minutes or so.
I also like to have an eye cushion when I practice yoga Libra.
It helps me to relax more the eyes and the mind,
The brain behind.
And closing the eyes now,
We settle into our space,
Into our bodies,
Beautiful bodies,
Incredible bodies,
Doing such incredible work right now,
A little moment of gratitude for this body and letting it completely release.
Feeling the weight of your body on the ground,
On the surface beneath you,
Which is carrying you,
Supporting you.
She whose body is the earth,
She is there at all times.
Feeling her embrace,
Feeling her holding you,
Letting your body relax in her arms.
You can scan quickly your body and notice if there is tension that you're holding in some areas.
And when you notice that,
Sending a little love there and seeing if with the breath you can try to relax those areas especially.
And giving away the weight of the body to the earth,
To the ground beneath,
Giving away the weight of the body,
The weight of our bones,
Letting them rest.
The weight of our limbs,
Our arms,
Our legs,
Letting them rest,
Become heavy.
Letting the earth receive you,
Feeling the force of gravity anchoring you,
Pulling you down,
Down,
Down,
Into her.
And with each exhale,
Giving away the weight a little more.
With each exhale,
Becoming heavier.
And we will start the rotation around the body,
Following my voice,
My guidance,
Simply resting your awareness on the body parts that I'm naming,
Simply bringing your awareness there.
And we start with the right hand,
The right thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And little finger,
All fingers,
Palm of the hand,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Lower arm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder.
The whole right arm is heavy.
And bringing the awareness to the armpit,
Right armpit,
Right side of the chest,
Right hip,
Right thigh and knee,
Lower leg,
Ankle,
The top of the right foot,
The heel,
Feeling the weight of the heel on the ground.
The sole of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Little toe,
The whole right foot,
The whole right leg is heavy,
Relaxed.
And the whole right side body now,
The whole right side,
Heavy and relaxed,
The whole right side.
And now bringing the awareness over to the left hand,
Left thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And little finger,
The palm of your hand,
The top of your hand,
The wrist,
Lower arm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder.
The whole left arm is relaxed and heavy.
Left armpit,
Left side of the chest,
Left hip,
Left thigh,
Knee,
Lower leg,
Ankle,
Top of the left foot,
Heel,
Feeling the weight of the heel on the ground,
Sole,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And little toe.
And the whole left leg is relaxed and heavy.
The whole left side body is relaxed and heavy.
The whole left side,
The whole left side.
Both arms,
Left arm,
Right arm,
Left leg,
Right leg,
Are relaxed and heavy.
And then bringing the awareness to the pelvic floor,
To the pelvis,
The pelvic girdle,
Bones of the hips,
Feeling the heaviness of the pelvis,
The center of your body,
Center of gravity,
Heaviness of the pelvic girdle,
The buttocks against the ground beneath,
And the inner organs,
The womb space,
The baby that you carry,
Sending them a few messages of restfulness and embrace.
You are embraced and your baby too.
In the arms of she whose body is the earth,
Feeling her loving embrace,
Moving up to the chest,
To the heart and the lungs,
To the neck and throat,
The jaw,
Allowing the jaw to release,
Teeth,
Gums,
Tongue,
Allowing the tongue to be relaxed and heavy,
Resting back into the throat,
The nose,
Left nostril,
Right nostril,
Tip of the nose,
Left cheek,
Right cheek,
Left ear,
Right ear,
Left eye,
Right eye,
Letting the eyeballs be relaxed and heavy,
Falling and moving back into their sockets,
Left eyelid,
Right eyelid,
Left eyebrow,
Right eyebrow,
Center,
Third eye between the eyebrows,
Forehead,
Left temple,
Right temple,
Top of the head,
Crown,
Resting your awareness there,
Feeling your connection to higher wisdom,
Higher energies,
To the cosmos,
The divine,
Back of the head,
Feeling the head heavy and falling back into the support beneath,
Left brain and right brain,
Relaxed and heavy,
The whole head is relaxed and heavy,
Now feeling the whole body,
Relaxed,
The whole body,
The whole body,
Now start to feel the whole body becoming very,
Very warm,
Very warm,
So heated up,
So warm that it is as if you were lying next to a huge bonfire,
Crackling beside you,
You feel the warmth and the heat of this fire in your body,
In your bones,
Feel the heat as if you were lying naked under the sun,
The midday sun of a very hot summer day,
Feel that heat in your body,
And now releasing the sensation of heat,
Start to feel sensation of cold,
Very,
Very cold,
It is like you are outside on a mountain,
In the middle of a snowstorm,
And your body naked is lying in the snow,
Feel the cold entering through your skin all the way to your bones,
Feel how cold your body is,
And now releasing the sensation of cold,
Now your body is feeling extremely light,
You are going to experience the sensation of extreme lightness,
So light like a feather,
That it feels almost like your body is hovering a few millimeters above the ground,
Feel this lightness of every limb,
This lightness of your body,
Almost transparent,
And now releasing the sensation of lightness,
And now feel the sensation of heaviness,
The whole body is so heavy,
Like a stone,
That it is creating an indentation in the ground beneath you,
Creating a little hollow space in the ground beneath you,
So heavy that you feel pulled down,
Down,
Down into the earth,
Feel this heaviness,
And now releasing the sensation of heaviness,
Simply rest exactly as you are,
Simply be,
Let yourself be,
Feeling the warmth of her embrace,
Embracing you and your baby,
Allowing yourself to simply rest in this marvelous bed of the earth,
She carries you every step of the way,
She holds you,
She whose body is the earth,
She is you,
Resting in your being,
Resting in your true self,
And gently I will invite you and guide you out of this yoga nidra,
But there is no haste,
And if you wish to remain here a little longer,
Of course,
Please do so,
But if you're ready to move on,
Then come back to the sensations in your body right now,
Whatever they may be,
And you can take three deep breaths into the body to refresh and reawaken,
And oxygenate yourself and your baby,
You can bring your hands together,
The palms of your hands together,
Rub them until you feel some heat being generated,
And then bring the palms of your hands over your eyes,
Your closed eyes,
Feel the heat,
The love through the palms of your hands,
Entering into the eyeballs,
And then opening the eyelids,
Just staying in this semi-darkness,
Semi-light space for a moment,
Reacquainting yourself with light and colors,
Very softly,
Gently,
When you're ready,
You can open the hands and come back to this world,
Welcoming,
Inviting the world back into your awareness,
And you can move the body in any which way the body craves,
Maybe stretch a little,
Like awakening from a deep sleep,
A deep night's sleep,
And rolling over to one side,
Feel one last time the contact with earth beneath you,
Giving thanks,
And lifting yourself back up,
Notice how your body feels,
How you feel right now after this Nidra,
And keep the fruits of this practice with you throughout the day,
Or what is coming next for you,
And I wish you a beautiful,
Beautiful day,
Relaxed,
Embodied in your body,
And feeling really these qualities of earth,
This stability,
This groundedness,
This centeredness that she gives us,
That this element gives us.
So,
Namaste to you.
