Greetings and welcome to the Why Struggle podcast.
I'm your host,
Barbara J.
Faison,
And my intention with this podcast is to offer ideas,
Insights,
And inspirations so you can live life better.
Greetings and welcome to 2024 Week 10.
Money.
This is an episode about money,
Content creation,
And online platforms.
Money is not evil.
Money is not the root of evil.
Money,
A currency,
Is a representation of what people think will make them happy.
Being rich will set you free from all the demons of the world,
Right?
Does money truly motivate you,
Or is it the freedom that having money provides?
If we lived in a society where having a golden duck was the expected level of being rich,
Would everyone try to find as many golden ducks as they could?
What is a lot of money?
Does money equate to happiness?
Investigate your beliefs about money and take time to get clear about your relationship to money.
You may have to go deeper into your family dynamics to gain more insight.
Practice.
Imagine you won the lottery for the amount of money you feel would set you up for life.
Think of all the things you would do with your winnings.
After thinking of everything,
What's next?
Affirmation.
I understand and accept the purpose of money in my life.
End of excerpt.
That was an excerpt from my book,
E-book,
Audio book,
Why Struggle?
Life is Too Short to Wear Tight Shoes.
My mission is to use my voice to heal,
Educate,
And inspire.
Last year,
I had someone approach me about creating videos,
Content for a project that would share tips and ways to meditate at work.
The project was for American Express Business on Social Media.
As a business owner,
I weighed the cost.
There was the time I needed to create the videos and the time I would need to engage with the audience who watched the videos.
This was not a paid project.
However,
It was an opportunity to have my work in front of a different audience.
My contact said I was specifically referred.
Well,
That was interesting.
Hmm.
Who was that?
I decided to do it.
The video came out last week.
You can check out the five tips I shared for their social media campaign on Facebook,
LinkedIn,
And Instagram.
Last week,
We did an impromptu Celebrate You video gathering,
And I found out it was one of my regular meditators from the Insight Timer app that referred me.
Thank you so much,
Beth Kaiserman.
Do you watch videos or podcasts on YouTube?
Maybe you have a subscription for music on Apple,
Amazon,
Or Spotify,
Or some other digital platform.
What about videos on streaming platforms like Instagram,
TikTok,
Facebook?
As a content creator,
I know that even free things have a cost.
There is a cost to create and produce,
Which includes time,
Money,
And equipment,
The cost to share what was created called marketing,
More tools,
And platforms.
This is the expense part of the business equation that many people may not think about if they're not in business.
Creator-supported platforms are available now.
One of the platforms I'm on is the Insight Timer app,
The number one free app for sleep,
Anxiety,
And stress.
I started posting my meditations in 2018,
And I recently crossed over 7,
000 followers.
On this platform,
You only pay for access to courses.
My two audio courses are available for sale on my website at barbarafason.
Com store,
And also available at no cost for Insight Timer premium members.
On this platform,
I can connect with people who are listening to my work.
I love to respond to reviews and comments.
Almost 5,
000 people have joined my courses,
And I love hearing how they're experiencing the course along the way.
FYI,
I have been a premium member since I started using the app,
And enjoy listening to courses about meditation,
The brain,
Sleep,
And more.
And yes,
I leave comments and reviews for the courses I take.
Yep,
I'm a nerd like that.
Think about one of your favorite creators,
A singer,
A meditation teacher,
Or someone you follow on YouTube.
Got that person in your head?
How can you support that person?
Here are a few ideas.
Send an email to let them know you appreciate them.
Share their work with others.
Buy a product they offer for yourself or as a gift.
Refer them to others.
Make a donation.
Buy them a coffee or tea.
Look for links.
Subscribe to their offerings.
Look for links.
There are so many places content creators can post,
Right?
Instagram,
TikTok,
Facebook,
Snapchat,
Xthreads,
And I know there are more.
It's a lot.
My first place to post is in my Patreon community.
Did you know I had a Patreon community?
Wait,
What?
What is that?
Patreon is one of the online platforms where you can offer paid subscriptions for people to donate or support your work.
This platform allows my regular meditators to be automatically enrolled in my meditation sessions.
We meet twice a month,
2nd and 3rd Wednesdays from 8 to 9 p.
M.
Eastern.
Here's a big shout out to my Patreon subscribers.
They are called Patrons.
Ivette Lee,
Mike Ramsey,
Tracy Ramsey,
Laura Mandelson,
Hilal Tamrat,
Pam Zeka.
I post breath breaks,
Request to test my meditations affirmations before they're released,
And I share videos about my life that I may or may not post elsewhere other than in my Patreon community.
If you would like to know more about Patreon,
You can go to patron.
Com slash Barbara Faison and see some of the posts.
Click the membership tab to see the different options.
There is a $5 a month option to support my work that you can use if you can't make the monthly meditations.
The money talk is done.
Well,
Almost.
Since we are talking about money,
I'm going to offer a 10% discount on the products in my store at barbarafaison.
Com store,
Including free shipping for U.
S.
Orders,
And that includes live meditation sessions.
Use money is not case sensitive as the coupon code.
Let me know your thoughts about money,
Online platforms,
Or whatever.
You can leave a comment where you're listening to this podcast.
