So,
Hello.
And welcome to this meditation on Warmly Healing Fear.
I like the title Warmly Healing Fear.
Because often the way that we approach our inner world,
The way that we attempt to approach resolving fear and anxiety,
Can be a little bit aggressive.
So this meditation is going to explore how to warmly heal fear.
So make yourself comfortable please.
Sit down in the same way that you'd sit down if it was Christmas Eve,
That you were sitting around a log fire on the sofa.
I think it's best to sit up and not lie down,
Sit up comfortably.
And I'll just say in this meditation series you're not going to have to try very hard at all.
It's more like you're sitting just listening to a piece of music.
Or you're sitting in a nice warm house just looking out of some big windows at a beautiful view.
Very easy.
Now as we sit down if we've been busy all day,
If our minds have been busy with worry,
Or even if the worry has been playing just under the surface,
We've been distracting ourselves.
When we come and sit down you might feel some sort of agitation in the body.
Something in you that is not wanting to be here feels like it wants to be somewhere else.
Maybe you can imagine that that tension in you,
That fear in you looks like a little kid who's been crying out for your attention all day.
And yet you've been ignoring them.
There's no blame here,
You just didn't really know that they were calling out.
And now you know.
So you can be there,
You can allow your attention to seep into your body.
You can allow your awareness that which is aware of your experience right now to come more into your body,
Into your nervous system.
You can't get this meditation wrong if you're sitting here now.
Then you're doing absolutely fine.
It's working.
If this thought's moving that's okay,
Let them move.
If there's feelings here that's okay,
It's all okay.
Now that you've stopped running it's all allowed to come up to be held within your awareness.
Within your loving,
Caring awareness.
You might not totally feel this,
The love of your own awareness right now.
And that's okay.
Whatever you're experiencing is totally okay right now.
Why don't we speak to our body?
You can say to your body,
You can say to any places inside that are feeling tense and tight.
You can say it's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
You go directly to the area in your body that's feeling tense,
If there is one.
Maybe it's your hips or your belly,
Or your heart or your throat.
You just say to these areas,
It's okay,
It's okay,
It's okay.
I know,
I know,
I know.
You're learning how to hold your fear.
You're learning how to hold your anxious nervous system.
In the same way that you would so naturally hold a pet,
Dog or cat that's afraid.
Yesterday my dog Lottie,
She hurt herself and was trembling and shaking.
I was really,
I seemed quite scared.
She came running over to me,
Shaking,
Shaking,
And so I just held her,
Just stroked her,
And I was saying to her,
It's okay,
Dog,
It's okay.
Kissing her on the head,
It's okay,
I've got you,
I love you,
I love you.
Eventually the fear and trauma of the shock she was in left her little nervous system.
She was running around again.
We all have this love within our hearts.
You know you have this love within your heart because you know in certain situations like when a loved one is ill or scared or you find an animal that's injured,
This love just pours forwards out of you.
Yet,
When our own bodies are scared and screaming,
When our own emotions,
Which we can all feel into right now in our bodies,
When they're afraid,
We don't usually bring this same love into them.
But can you right now just take hold of your own hand?
Just allow your awareness,
Allow your attention to ever so gently drop down away from your mind into your body,
Away from your mind and into your heart.
Breathing,
Fully feeling inwardly smiling.
Can you feel that inner smile?
Maybe it's subtle,
Even if struggle is present,
There's always a place in us that is just smiling,
A reservoir of joy inside each of us which is it's our true nature really and it's it's always kind of trying to nudge its way up into the surface of experience through our willingness to feel every cell of our body to feel into our bodies and hold our bodies.
We start to just a little bit come out of resistance from experiencing this inner reservoir of goodness.
Maybe you feel your crown chakra just ever so slightly opening.
You feel kind of like a a warm energy just seeping down into you from above.
Again we can speak to our bodies if we feel we can just say it's okay.
It's okay,
I know.
I know.
I know I've got you.
I love you.
Feeling into the space of the room.
Feeling into the quiet that's here.
There's always quiet here.
And if you really feel that quiet you can almost feel the quiet as a little smile inside.
My friend thank you for joining me for this little meditation.
Please know that whatever you're going through it's going to be absolutely okay.
Even if it doesn't always feel like it there's an intelligence to life.
You're totally held.
You're stronger than you know.
You're so loved and so safe.
Remember this little mantra that you can say to yourself.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
