Hi friends!
My name is Ashley and I'll be guiding you through a special meditation for Mercury Retrograde.
So Mercury Retrograde happens three to four times a year and it's often a good time for us as humans to pause and reflect and look back just as Mercury is appearing to move backwards.
And this effect often has an impact on Earth and the humans on it.
We may feel like everything's glitching,
Technology just isn't on our side,
Or many miscommunication mishaps occur.
Mercury being the planet that rules communication,
Technology,
And travel,
When it goes retrograde it has an adverse effect on these domains in our life.
This meditation will help you ground and rest during this cosmically wonky time and uplift you so you feel energetically prepared to handle this upcoming three-week period.
So for this meditation I'd like you to begin by finding a grounding meditation position.
Sitting on the floor or even laying down on your back.
Arrive in a position that still lengthens the spine and supports every corner of your body.
Gently soften the gaze or if you feel safe to close down the eyes completely.
Separate your lips leaving a small space in between them to relax the mouth and jaw.
Smooth out the tension in your forehead and relax your shoulders.
Let go of anything you may be internally or externally gripping on to.
Then become aware of the breath floating in and out of your nostrils.
Fixate your attention on the temperature and texture of this breath.
Then begin to bring that breath low into the belly,
Taking slow long breaths.
Then begin to make your exhales longer than your inhales.
Maybe inhale for a count of four,
Exhale long and slow for a count of seven.
I'll guide you through the first few rounds to start.
So inhaling through the nose for one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale slow and low for one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven.
Inhale for one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale for one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven.
Continue to inhale for four,
Exhale for seven on your own,
Modifying the count if your body needs it,
As long as your breath out is longer than your breath in.
Return to your natural rhythm of breath.
Then connect with this slow pace in your body,
The sensation of taking things slow and with care.
Just like when we slowed our breathing down,
Feel this pace in your body as something that is comforting and safe.
Mercury is a fast-moving planet and when it spins retrograde,
There is a period of reflection that opens up to look back at all that's been said and done.
Reflecting in slow motion,
Become aware of how you have used your words.
Become aware of how you currently use your words.
This retrograde will challenge the way you speak and communicate.
So take this moment to affirm your intention when you do communicate.
In this space of slowness,
Envision yourself paying extra due diligence to details,
Especially if you are traveling or having an important conversation with someone.
Feel what it's like to embody discernment.
And know that giving yourself extra space and time is more efficient than skipping and skimming through all the steps.
Like having an energetic detailed checklist,
See yourself move through life with more space and ease during this retrograde period,
Trusting that you have handled all the details.
Then as you envision your life for the next three or so weeks,
See a ball filled with golden light hovering over you wherever you go.
Offering you compassion and grace when you get frustrated.
Depositing the light of joy and humor,
Allowing you to laugh at yourself when glitches occur.
The buoyancy of this golden ball keeps your spirits light and friendly.
Embracing the retrograde as a human experience on this little planet with other little planets spinning around it.
Meditate on this feeling of lightheartedness that will carry you onward from this point.
Deepen the breath into the body.
Invite gentle,
Slow movement to the fingers and toes.
Eventually,
The rest of the body slowly follows.
And whenever you are ready,
Close your meditation practice with a loving breath in and a loving breath out.
