This 7-minute meditation uses alternate nostril breathing to calm the mind. The Yin and Yang, or Masculine and Feminine aspects of ourselves can easily be balanced from just 2 minutes of this breathing technique every day. In addition to balancing the brain hemispheres and promoting mental calmness, it also can help lower blood pressure and assist with bronchial issues.

Today we'll be working on balancing the yin and yang energies in the body using Nadi Shodhana breathing.

Please find yourself in a relaxed seated position letting your spine lengthen,

Your shoulders falling down and back.

Let your eyelids gently close,

Resting your right hand on your right knee,

Palm facing upward.

As you begin to focus on the feeling of your lungs expanding when they fill with air and contracting with your exhale.

Now take your left hand and put your index and middle finger on the point between your eyebrows.

Take your thumb and close your left nostril,

Breathing in only through the right nostril for a count of four.

Now take your ring finger and close the right nostril so that both nostrils are covered and hold your breath for a count of four.

Then release the left nostril and exhale for a count of four.

Inhale through the left for a count of four.

Close both nostrils for a count of four.

Release the right nostril and exhale for a count of four.

Inhale through the right nostril for a count of four.

Close both nostrils for a count of four.

Release the left nostril and exhale for a count of four.

Inhale through the left nostril for a count of four.

Close both nostrils for a count of four.

Release the right nostril and exhale for a count of four.

In two,

Three,

Four.

Hold two,

Three,

Four.

Out two,

Three,

Four.

In two,

Three,

Four.

Hold two,

Three,

Four.

Out two,

Three,

Four.

Continue this pattern for a few minutes.

You can now begin to breathe normally through both nostrils,

Removing your left hand and laying it face up on your left knee as you take a few low belly breaths in.

This technique can balance the brain hemispheres and encourages mental calmness.

Take note of how you feel now.

When you're ready,

You can flutter your eyes open,

Coming back to the room.

I hope you go about the rest of your day with a sense of balance and ease.

Thank you.
