"Dream Time" is Yoga Nidra (meditation) for kids. This style of Yoga Nidra was created as a tool to help my daughters fall asleep at night by calming their bodies, and their breath, and tuning into their inner wisdom before they drift off to slumber. "Can you take me on a dream?" has become a nighttime question in my home now, and I'm so excited to hear what your little ones think. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation done lying down, so it is a perfect way to end the night. In this series of "Dream Time," you will find that each session has a different visualization or destination, all to help your little one create their calm, and tune into their intuition. Sweet Dreams!

Hello and good evening dreamer friend.

Welcome to dream time.

Remember these dream time meditations are for you to create calm and rest in your body and your mind to get ready for sleep.

When you're ready,

Lay down in your bed and try your hardest to be calm,

Still and quiet through the whole meditation to allow yourself to really get sleepy.

Let's go on a dream.

Let your arms rest in whatever way feels comfortable to you.

Allow your eyelids to feel heavy and close over your eyes.

Take a little wiggle through your head,

Fingers and toes and then take a deep breath in.

Exhale,

Let your whole body be still in your bed.

Take a deep breath in,

This time counting to four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Exhale,

Count to four.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Now just let your breath come naturally in and out through your nose and as you breathe like this,

Imagine a ball of warm yellow light floating just above your chest.

With each inhale you take,

The ball of light floats away from you up towards the ceiling.

With each exhale,

The ball floats closer towards your chest,

Hovering just above your body.

Inhale,

The ball floats up,

Up,

Up.

Exhale,

The ball floats down,

Down,

Down.

Inhale,

The ball floats up.

Exhale,

It floats down towards you.

One more time,

Inhale,

It rises up.

Exhale,

It floats down.

This time,

The ball floats so close to you,

It lands inside your chest and fills your whole body with light and warmth.

You are calm and still and relaxed.

Your whole body rests into your bed now.

With your eyes closed,

I'm going to list some things for you to imagine seeing in your mind.

I'll name one thing and then I'll name another thing.

Just try your best to move on to the next image as I say it,

But don't worry if it's too hard.

First,

With your eyes closed,

Let yourself see a bright red truck.

Now,

Let your eyes see a bright green forest tree,

A big black bird perched on a tree,

A pair of blue rubber rain boots,

A can of soda pop,

A warm pumpkin pie on the kitchen counter,

A white fluffy bunny,

A large forest full of trees.

Now,

Imagine you're standing in front of this large forest full of trees.

It's warm and you are safe.

You see on the edge of the forest,

A trail leading into the forest.

You know it is safe,

So you walk onto the trail and begin to explore.

What does the forest look like around you?

Is it filled with pine tree geese or perhaps kinds of large trees?

Either way,

Keep walking along this trail and notice everything you can see around you in this forest.

What plants do you see?

Do you see any animals?

As you look around,

You notice a large giant tree.

It's larger than all the rest,

But it looks strange and kind of lumpy.

As you get close to the tree,

You see that it's covered with caterpillars in their cocoons.

You notice that these hundreds of caterpillars in their cocoons are slowly and forcefully wiggling out of their hard cocoons.

They are strong as they burst through the cracks and press their way out into the forest air.

You can see that as they come out of their cocoons,

That they aren't caterpillars after all,

For they have all turned into butterflies.

As they come out of their cocoons,

They stretch and their wings spread out wide.

These hundreds of new butterflies start flying all together around you now.

These strong butterflies used to be something different,

But it was time for them to grow and change.

They're all beautiful in their own unique way.

What colors are these butterflies?

Some big,

Some small,

Some bright,

Some dark.

Notice what you can see about all of these butterflies around you.

The hundreds of butterflies begin to scoop you up and carry you with them.

As you fly with these butterflies,

They whisper you a message,

A message meant for you.

Hear the special message now.

Imagine it filling your chest with light.

Feel your message and then gently relax as your butterflies fly and carry you all the way back to your bed.

You are now back to laying in your safe and warm bed.

Your body is relaxed and still and your mind is calm.

You can feel the warmth of your light and your special message within you as you begin to settle into sleep.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Thank you.

I can't wait for our next dream.

Sweet dreams.
