"Dream Time" is Yoga Nidra (meditation) for kids. This style of Yoga Nidra was created as a tool to help my daughters fall asleep at night by calming their bodies, and their breath, and tuning into their inner wisdom before they drift off to slumber. "Can you take me on a dream?" has become a nighttime question in my home now, and I'm so excited to hear what your little ones think. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation done lying down, so it is a perfect way to end the night. In this series of "Dream Time," you will find that each session has a different visualization or destination, all to help your little one create their calm and tune into their intuition. Sweet Dreams!

Hello and welcome dreamer.

It's time to go on a dream.

So when you're ready,

Get cozy in your bed,

Lay all the way down on your back and slowly close your eyes.

Let your arms rest to your sides or maybe on your belly.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and as you exhale your breath,

Sigh it out loud through your mouth.

Do that two more times.

Inhale,

Fill all the way up,

Up,

Up.

Exhale,

Sigh it out loud.

Inhale,

Fill up.

Exhale,

Sigh it out loud.

Now,

Just let your breath happen normally in and out through your nose.

Let your body relax all the way down into your bed.

Relax your head,

Your shoulders,

Your arms,

Your chest,

Your belly,

Your hips.

Relax your legs.

Relax your feet and all of your fingers and all of your toes.

Let your whole body melt down like butter into your bed.

Imagine as you're relaxing into your bed that you and your bed become as light as a cloud and just like a cloud,

Your bed begins to lift up,

Up,

Up and out of your room,

Out of your house and slowly up to the sky.

You are safe as you float with the clouds slowly through the sky now.

You look down and you can see your neighborhood.

Notice what houses you see in your neighborhood.

Perhaps you see trees or a pet running through the neighborhood.

Just quietly notice what you see as your bed floats with the clouds in the sky.

Now,

Notice up ahead that you see a beach.

Your bed slowly floats down to the beach and gently lands on the nice warm sand.

What can you notice about your beach?

Is it daytime here or night time?

Do you see any birds flying in the sky?

Just look around your beach and notice what you can see around you.

Maybe there are smells you can notice as well.

Gently now hop off your bed and squish your toes into the nice warm sand beneath you.

You slowly walk towards the soft and calm ocean waves.

As your feet touch the water,

You notice your skin begins to change.

What used to be your feet become flippers as you gently walk deeper into the warm calm water.

The more you get your body into the water,

The more your body changes into an ocean creature.

What creature have you turned into as you go deeper into the water?

Are you a fish,

A shark,

Perhaps a mermaid,

Merman,

Merperson?

Whatever it is you turn into,

You feel happy and safe.

You can breathe under the water.

You swim around in the calm sea.

You begin to notice everything around you.

Are there more fish around you?

Do you see any colors,

Coral or sea plants?

Take a moment to wander and swim around this ocean cove you are in.

Now as you keep gently swimming through the warm water,

You can see up ahead a dolphin looking at you as if they have been waiting for you.

Dolphin looks into your eyes and nods its head as if it wants you to follow.

The dolphin swims slowly and you swim to follow the dolphin.

You see that this dolphin is leading you down towards the bright floor of the ocean where there is a giant clamshell.

Go up to the clamshell and lightly touch it.

As soon as you touch the clamshell,

It slowly opens.

Inside you see a beautiful pearl.

What color is your pearl?

You slowly grab the pearl to hold it.

When you pick it up,

You notice there is a message in this pearl.

It whispers your message to you now.

Listen closely.

This message is something just for you.

Something that you need to hear today about yourself.

What is your message?

Hear it being whispered to you.

Once you have your message,

Imagine your message filling your whole body and making you feel so warm.

Now that you have let this very important message fill your whole body,

You know you can go back to your bed and back to your home.

You give the dolphin a big hug goodbye and you gently float all the way back to the top of the water.

Slowly walk out of the water,

Back onto the beach where your body turns back into your own.

You walk towards your bed and slowly lay down.

Your bed floats up,

Up,

Up to the sky.

It floats among the clouds with the birds who are heading to their nests to go to sleep too.

And now your bed floats down to your bedroom.

It gently lands.

You are back in your safe and warm space where you get to let your body rest.

This time with your special message filling up your whole body to help you relax even more.

Let your body rest.

This time with your special message filling up your whole body to help you relax even more.

Keep your body still,

Quiet and calm.

Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

Gently now allow yourself to fall asleep safely,

Calmly and happily.

You are kind,

You are needed,

You are enough.

I look forward to our next meditation friend,

Sweet dreams.
