Hello this is Aruna Shields and welcome to your hummingbird meditation.
Taking a moment to allow your body to settle into a comfortable seated position and gently closing the eyes.
Setting the intention to be as you are in each and every moment,
Letting go of all effort and allowing the mind to release thoughts and simply return to my voice whenever it's effortless to do so.
Now,
Dropping inside the body,
Sensing the gentle weight of gravity holding you in place.
The contact points with the chair or the ground.
Balance of the body.
The aliveness inside the body.
Noticing any sensations.
Now connecting with the sensation of the breath.
After seeing how the breath rises up to the sky on the inhales and falls down to the earth on the exhale.
And in a few moments time,
Repeating inwardly the word sky on the inhale and the word earth on the exhale.
Then the mind wanders gently returning to repeating sky on the inhales,
Earth on the exhales.
Breathing now.
Allowing the mind to wander off and return to the repetition if it wishes to do so.
Allowing the mind to wander off and return to repeating sky on the inhales,
Earth on the exhales.
Now letting go of the repetition,
Freeing the mind,
Releasing and relaxing the brow.
If you wish allowing the image of a hummingbird to appear.
This image may be blurry,
Vivid or if the mind is still non-existent.
The hummingbird appears in your imagination,
Seeing its shiny feathers.
Noticing the colour of its feathers.
Noticing its little dark eyes.
Noticing its long delicate beak.
Seeing the bird flying.
And when it flies,
A rapid movement of its wings creates a blur.
Now imagining the bird drinking the flower nectar.
If you wish imagining the bird hovering next to you.
Sensing its aliveness.
The bird shoots off and returns,
Shoots off and returns,
Seemingly interested in you.
The bird lands now on your head,
So light you can hardly feel it,
And you remain still.
Now letting go of the image of the bird and coming back to all the senses.
Coming back into the room and in your own time wiggling the toes and fingers and gently opening the eyes.
And you open your eyes noticing how you feel.
