Here is a very simple practice from my book, ‘The Flame Within’ which can be done early in the morning when the sun is just about to break out. In this practice, we learn to connect to the sky and be in the now through its many changing colours. When we are entangled in our thoughts and emotions, energies, and sensations, we are cut away from the present moment, locked in our past memories. This practice builds our capacity to always live our lives in the present moment.

Here's a walking meditation.

How do I connect my thoughts,

My emotions,

My energy to say the vast sky?

You step out for a walk,

Preferably early in the morning when the sun is breaking into dawn or is just about to.

Often as you do that,

You could be entangled in your thoughts,

In your energy,

How you splat the earlier day.

Escape free from it.

This takes a second.

How?

By reconnecting to something else.

As you're walking,

Expand your vision,

Your eye slightly tilted skyward so that you can still see the path in front but your eye is cast upward.

To the eye,

Connect to the sky,

To the moon,

To the star,

To the color of the sky and identify there.

Takes another couple of seconds.

This is the main practice which you can do for say forty minutes,

An hour,

Whatever is your walking time.

Now within you,

Consciously or unconsciously,

The experience of space is getting built.

You in movement,

That is how we are in life and yet instead of caught in our small thought or emotion energy,

Our eye has broken free from that entanglement,

Cast itself upward,

Connected to the color of the sky and identified there.

Ultimately you get that inner experience of vastness,

Calmness,

Space but very soon as you continue to walk,

You notice your eye has got disconnected from the sky and your awareness is entangled in your thought and energy.

Another practice,

One second pull out from your thought energy,

See the sky,

The color,

The moon,

The star,

Connect and identify so that now again you have that sense of space of vastness.

If you are doing this early in the morning,

The sky color changes so many times,

Dark blue to blue of different shades,

White stealing in,

Pink,

Yellow,

Orange coming in with the rays of the sun coming.

Start doing it aware of the minute changes in the sky,

Your awareness free from the entangled thought and emotion energy within you,

One second,

Cast and connected into the color of the sky,

United with it more and more.

You can do this practice thousands of times during that forty,

Sixty minute walk.

Slowly our unconscious gets the method and in real time,

No matter what the entanglement is,

We learn to cast our inner gaze upward into subtler regions of our conscious and be free and connected to qualities of the wideness and vastness.
