This practice is about how we face rejection and tackle it completely in a calm,

Centred way,

Listening but not getting reactive.

Or even worse,

When people make certain comments about us or there are certain relationship challenges or there are some failures that we encounter,

Often,

Unfortunately,

Our inner experience moves into a feeling of being rejected by someone.

Sometimes,

We ourselves are our greatest villain and we critique ourselves quite strongly,

Sometimes,

That we feel that state of rejection.

This is an inner practice given to those who want to become capable of handling this without going through this experience,

But very quickly through a couple of inner practices collapsing together,

Experiencing a state of rejuvenation.

Of course,

We need to learn what we need to learn,

But we learn best from a resourceful state.

This practice now,

We will take something that occurred in the recent past,

It could be today,

It could be yesterday,

It could be a few years before.

Taking that instant,

We will explore the inner process.

Once you practice in this way a few times,

You will be able to do this on the spot when you are experiencing the triggers of rejection.

And by choice,

What you will now do for 15-20 minutes,

By practice,

You will be able to do it within a minute,

With eyes open,

On the spot,

So that instead of going into that state of feeling rejected,

You would bounce back in a few seconds,

In a minute and face reality,

Learning what you need to learn,

Dropping away stuff which is not true and being able to evolve forward.

Before we begin our practice,

We ground ourselves within our body,

Because when we do the practice within our body,

It's more accurate,

More true and extraordinarily transformative.

I'll be quiet for two minutes.

Take your awareness within your body and just become aware of its sensation.

Within,

Now,

Also become aware of your breath.

You're within your body,

You're aware of your body,

Also become aware of your breath,

Which will give you a better capacity to be in the here and now.

This is both a basic practice,

But it is advanced.

If you repeat just this practice,

Being within your body,

Be aware of your breath a hundred times each day for a few minutes and do it for a year,

You will develop an extraordinary neutrality.

And even when we do this practice now,

If at all you get overwhelmed,

When we access a memory,

Just go into your body,

Just be aware of your breath.

Now we begin the actual practice of today,

Rejection.

Now,

Let's explore something simple,

Subtle,

Often we overlook.

There are two layers to the experience of feeling rejection.

The triggers can be anything.

Somebody says something,

Somebody critiques,

Somebody ditches us.

Somebody who really was with us suddenly lets go of us whatsoever.

Or a proposal you submit gets rejected.

Triggers can be anything.

The first level of experience is simply you will have some sensations about it.

That's all.

You will have some reactions.

I'll give some examples.

A tightening in the navel region,

A cough,

A congestion in the throat,

Irritation in the eye,

Etc.

,

Etc.

Some thought,

Some engulfing energy or emotion.

So at the very basic level in split seconds,

You're going to have some sensations,

Feelings and thought.

Practice that you do in this domain is liberating.

However,

Within a few seconds,

The second layer of experience kicks in.

Your mind forms it into a story,

An associative mechanism which will form a story.

And in case this kind of experience of rejection has happened a few times,

It will club it all together and make it look really bigger than what it actually is.

The actual experience is simply the thoughts,

The sensations.

But the story making makes it into something larger.

And now you're dealing with a representation of the reality.

The reality is simply sensations,

Thoughts and feelings.

This story making is a representation,

So it has more falsehood.

But it also appears too large inside you that you feel overwhelmed.

It is difficult to put up practice when you're dealing with the story and sensation.

I'm sorry,

Story and the associative meaning.

It is easier to do the practice merely at the sensation level.

So here we go.

Think of a recent or past time when there was this experience of feeling rejected by self or others.

I'll be quiet now for two minutes.

Just become aware of the sensations.

Escape the story telling or the meaning making.

Be with the sensations of feeling rejected.

Taking that memory from the past.

It could be a heaviness of the heart.

It can be anything.

Just be aware.

As you're experiencing these sensations,

Step back a little bit.

Step back,

Reminding yourself that you are not the sensations.

You have the sensations.

But that is theory.

Until you step back,

Inwardly pull your awareness beneath.

Pull it back from the sensations and you will feel your own body's substance when you do that.

Which is neutral.

It is on it that the sensations are coursing.

So pull back from these.

Feeling your body's substance a little bit more.

You have to first feel that separateness.

You may need a strong will for this.

Because a weak will just gets hit by these reactions and it feels helpless.

It starts blaming the others and becomes a victim.

But you,

If you reclaim your stronger will.

You step back because you choose something higher to guide your life.

Not these reactions.

And what we did now is basic.

The second step we are going to do is transformative.

See your transformation cannot come from the current consciousness.

So whatever effort you put will only give you a mild tinkering.

For transformation it has to come from another level.

So here is a tiny practice.

Stepping back all the sensations that are there.

Some heaviness,

Some thoughts,

Some grip or even some darkish feeling inside us or energy inside us that is occurring because of this.

Turn it to the vastness that exists above your head.

What does this step mean?

Is that we are opening ourselves to a quality of vastness that is there above our head in the heights.

On a quiet night you will feel this easily.

If you are standing on a mountain you will feel that silence.

Even in the most noisiest room.

If you put your awareness quietly above you will feel space.

You will feel a little freedom.

And there are many other qualities but this is enough for us.

Just instead of consuming these sensations inside your body you are just leaving it open to the vastness above.

In a posture of letting go.

You need to make a choice.

You are willing to let go these reactions.

You don't want to be consumed by them.

You don't have to eat them and take them in an experience.

They are occurring but you step back and you open these sensations and thoughts to the clear vastness.

A little bit above or much above like sky high or even more.

And simply wait with that inner calm will of offering these to the quality of free pure vastness.

Now if you are very quiet you will find that the sensations begin to become weaker.

That is because of the process of osmosis.

The vastness will act on the sensations.

It will act.

In the beginning you may not detect but it will always act.

That's the first step.

This actually takes only microseconds but you have to practice for that.

Detect the sensation of that rejection experience or anything else as well.

Detect the sensations and before the story forms step back and refer it to the vastness above.

This would actually take you about 8-10 seconds,

12 seconds after you practice.

In the beginning you can take like this.

Some real time events if it has occurred immediately when you are free you can do it.

Or you can pick events in the past and do it.

And we would end it with humility.

There is always something for us to learn.

The thirst to evolve to become a better version of us should always be lit.

So in this posture of stepping back free from the reactions and sensations you can quietly ask.

You can even ask that vastness above because it also represents the domains of intuition.

You can simply ask with sincerity.

What do I need to learn?

What is something I need to develop?

And you quietly wait.

Answer will come as an intuition immediately or later when you are doing your normal things.

Somebody will say something.

You will read something and you will recognize that the message has come for you.

That this is what you need to learn and become better at.

And that's it.

You apply it in your life.

Which is practice this once more very quickly in 2 minutes.

Just to get the hang.

Think of another time in your past when you felt rejection.

And then I'll go through these steps very quickly.

First think of a time when you feel that rejection.

Immediately just become aware of the sensations.

It could be strong or light.

It could be in different parts of the body.

Just become aware.

Step back from it.

Really step back from it.

Sliding into the substance.

That's your safe space.

Because it's neutral.

It may feel congested on the surface.

But on the inside it is free.

So slide into your substance.

Stepping back.

And then in that stepping back state.

Refer all the sensations that were beginning to grip you.

To the vastness that exists by itself above the head.

There's a vast space.

There's silence in an infinite height.

Simply refer the sensations to the above and wait.

Slowly let go.

You can practice this as many times as you want.

And if you get the knack of it and practice.

You will evolve.

You will become a better version of yourself.

And you will experience rejuvenation.
