Here's a short meditation based from the book The Flame Within.
This book is about a method of healing and transformation of all paths of our being,
Our mind,
Our vital life energy,
Our body,
Enabling us to connect to our vaster,
Wider,
Deeper consciousness that's always present.
We use the body as a referral point for this healing and transformation.
I'm going to share the essence of this method.
Place your attention on some part of your body that is calling for your attention now.
This could be a part that's a little unwell,
In pain,
Or is just stalking some stress of the day.
First step,
Place your awareness within this part of the body.
You would then feel the sensations,
The muscle,
Any fluid movements like the blood flow or vibration movement,
Any gripping or light sensations that are present here.
Normally when we place our awareness within a part of the body,
We get entangled into the pain,
Into the experience.
We get lost.
No healing,
No transformation occurs.
So the first step as you place your awareness within the body,
Let us learn to keep our awareness neutral,
Really steady,
Really still.
This may not come in the beginning.
We get entangled,
Step back,
Start the practice again till over time we develop the capacity to hold a neutral,
Really still awareness within the part of the body.
If you want to take this practice to the next level,
Drop within the part of the body.
Just drop within,
Which means go deeper,
Drop within the muscles and the bones.
And then you start feeling the energetic layer here.
Traditionally these are called the chakras.
Now we want to do it directly.
So just drop in into the energy field here and you could experience some movement,
Some closed nature of this part of the body.
So now we are going beyond the body into the function of this region.
For example,
If you are doing it in the heart or chest,
You have the flesh,
You have the substance of the body,
But when you drop in,
You get into the energy field of emotions,
Which is the function of the chakra here.
So in whichever part of the body you are doing this next level practice,
Drop in till you feel the energetic property here.
Once again,
Keep your awareness within the energy.
This is important if you want healing or transformation.
If you keep it outside,
No transformation.
So keep it within and be extraordinarily still.
Be neutral,
Be neutral,
Be neutral as a practice.
In both the first level and the second level practice,
Being with natural breath really helps.
Over a period of time as you are neutral,
Still within this region,
Something starts shifting in the energy itself,
By itself.
If you want to take this practice to the next level,
The third level,
Drop further in into the energy field,
Into the body,
Till you come to what feels as the potentiality,
The core aspiration or the quality of consciousness of this region,
The real,
Full,
Positive potential of it,
Which is felt as an aspiration.
Now if you arrive there,
It's a great progress.
Then unite with the potential of this region.
Unite with the core quality of consciousness.
Unite by connecting.
For example,
I've often seen that in the depth of the heart,
It varies for different people.
For some,
I've seen peace.
For some,
It is light.
For some,
It is force and power.
Whatever emerges,
Self emerges as you drop in most,
Whatever emerges as you drop in most,
That's the potentiality.
Unite and unite and unite.
This is the basic practice of placing our awareness within the body from the flame within book.
You can practice at your own pace a few times a day so that slowly we can live with an integrated awareness of our body through the day,
Even through our activities,
So that our capacity for healing and transformation is heightened.
