Welcome to this mindfulness practice in which we shall focus upon the heartbeat and sense its gentle soothing pulse.
Perhaps we can sync the breath with the beat,
Initiating a deep,
Deep awareness of our actuality.
Often I just sit in silence to seek my heartbeat.
Sometimes it is simple to detect and sometimes it is elusive.
The quieter I become the more chance I have of sensing its gentle pulsing.
Let us explore this together for a little while.
Find your sanctuary of peace,
Your place of silence.
Hush,
Hush and allow your body to gently settle,
Rest and surrender.
Now simply pay attention to your breathing for a little while.
Feel the breath around the nose,
Specifically around the wings of the nose,
The sides of the nose,
The tip of the nose.
Sense the air as it enters your being.
Sense the air as it gently leaves.
Be aware of the delicate sensation on the inside of the nostrils as the breath enters.
Be aware of the breath's warm departure through the nostrils as it leaves.
Be attentive to the pace of your breathing,
Conscious breathing.
Be attentive to the depth of your breathing,
Conscious breathing.
Use the breath as an anchor for this attentiveness.
Be aware of how the breath moves throughout your body.
Notice how it soothes and captures the mind.
And now,
Slow down your breathing.
Extend the breath long and slow.
Breathe with ease.
At this point,
Draw your awareness to your heartbeat.
If you cannot find it immediately,
Seek it in your imagination.
Bring your mind to a picture of your heart,
Both the physical and the emotional.
What image of the heart do you perceive?
What does your heart look like right now?
A romantic heart or a life-like heart?
Can you see it beating in your mind's eye?
Can you feel it beating in your chest?

That's all you need to do.
