Sometimes the universe deals us some truly painful cards,
And often a vulnerable hand.
So we need to surrender,
To learn,
To accept what is.
There will be many times and many situations when we simply lose control and are confronted with what we cannot change,
With what scares the living daylight out of us.
However,
Acceptance is the key to ascending and transforming our lives.
We can come into the present and be completely mindful without living in a state of turmoil and anxiety.
Easier said than done,
Yes I know.
However in our mindfulness practices,
Isn't freedom our destination?
Freedom from pain and angst and troubles and woes?
One of my favourite expressions and one that I repeat over and over to myself is,
Accept what is,
Let go of what was and have faith in what will be.
I don't mean to sound trite for sometimes it is so,
So challenging accepting things when they seem to be overwhelmingly difficult and hurtful.
But with patience and time and awareness and friendship towards ourselves,
We can learn to accept and let go of those things which are no longer beneficial or calming to our heart and essential nature.
Bring your attention to the eyebrow centre.
As you sit comfortably or you lie down comfortably,
Warm,
Peaceful.
And as you focus upon the eyebrow centre know that this is known as the third eye.
Symbolically this means that you close your physical eyes to the distractions and aversions of your outer world and open the inner eye to the inner self.
As you rest at this point,
Notice what you can sense.
Perhaps you can see an image there or colour,
Depth or light.
What can you see?
It is different for us all and it changes constantly.
Imagine you are immersing yourself now in nothing but light at this point and this light is expanding and expanding.
White,
Soft,
Light.
Bringing with it a sense of total peace and rest.
This light spreading from your toes to the crown and your crown to your toes.
Expelling all tension and fatigue.
All strain and pain.
All worries and concerns.
Sometimes you may lose the outline of your body as you float upon the waves of breath.
Nothing to think about.
Just draw forth this picture of soft,
Gentle white light.
It is as though you are suspended,
Floating,
Light and free.
Relaxing your muscles.
The heart gently beating.
Your breath slowing down.
Every limb releasing.
Every breath drawing you deep within.
Sense softness,
Calm and harmony throughout your whole being.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Let go of what was.
Deep,
Deep breath in.
Slow,
Slow breath out.
Patiently.
Patiently.
Slowly.
Slowly.
Breathing in peacefully.
Breathing out peacefully.
Have faith in what will be.
See clearly.
See clearly.
See clearly.
Breathing in.
In harmony.
Breathing out.
In harmony.
Stillness.
Stillness.
I accept.
I accept.
I accept.
And if the mind is annoying you and the thoughts are coming from all different directions,
Just imagine you're sitting by a riverbank and placing each thought on a leaf and watching the leaves as they float by.
Deep,
Deep breath in.
Slow,
Slow breath out.
Patiently.
Patiently.
Peacefully.
Peacefully.
I accept.
I accept.
I accept.
Freedom.
Freedom.
I shall remain silent for a little while.
Allow the thoughts to pass you by.
You will soon hear my voice again.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
Draw your attention to your breath.
Accept what is.
Let go of what was.
Have faith in what will be.
Breathing in.
I see clearly.
Breathing out.
I see clearly.
Breathing out.
I see clearly.
Accept.
Accept.
Accept.
Be aware of being in your body.
Draw your hands towards your heart and place one over the other.
Notice the warmth of your hands to your heart and your heart to your hands.
Rest in stillness.
Whilst eyes fill with tears and heart pounds with fear.
And expectations come crashing down and change comes uninvited.
How do I once again take deep quenching breaths and smile with a giant open heart?
The answer is I accept.
I accept.
I accept.
I surrender what I cannot change and pursue what I can.
I sit in stillness and see the way.
And to know that everything is as it should be.
And that all will be okay.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.
Peace.
Peace.
Peace.
