This visualisation can be used at any time of the day and not just at bedtime.
If using this at night I recommend you follow this visualisation with a guided sleep meditation.
This is designed to help you rechannel your thoughts and concerns about going to bed and to remind your subconscious mind that you are able to relax deeply and sleep with ease,
Awakening at an appropriate time with a sense of feeling restored energy and peacefulness.
The more your mind experiences the realities of sleeping soundly and restfully and the possibility of you waking up refreshed,
The more that experience can manifest in your life as you are priming your subconscious to program itself into creating that restful sleep and waking with healthy energy.
I want you now to close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Allow your muscles to relax as you allow the floor or the seat beneath you to fully take your weight.
Relax,
Relax,
Let go and breathe.
I want you now to see yourself in your mind's eye preparing for bed,
Wearing your favourite most comfortable pyjamas or whatever it is you prefer to sleep in,
Feeling the most snugly,
Most comfortable that you can possibly be.
You turn the lights off as you get into bed knowing that you are ready to relax and let go,
That sleep will come with ease.
You find the covers and the bed warm and cosy,
A perfect temperature and inviting.
As you rest under the covers in your bed you realise that you are feeling drowsy and relaxed and that you are ready to let go.
You see that you are able to let your thoughts just drift away and relax,
Relax,
Relax,
Going deeply into sleep,
Feeling your body just relax and the muscles around your eyes totally relax and you watch yourself,
Observe yourself enjoying a deep,
Deep sleep.
You notice how relaxed and at rest you are knowing that the sleep you are enjoying is undisturbed and restorative.
Breathing deeply,
Breathing deeply and relaxing.
Now I want you to imagine that it is time for you to wake up and that you are going to do so at an appropriate time of your choosing,
Either by your alarm or waking naturally at the time that is most beneficial to you and to your life.
Feel how rested you are and how ready for the day.
Notice how good it feels to awaken feeling energised and alert,
Feeling refreshed and renewed.
Enjoy this feeling of restored energy as it radiates through your whole body.
Stretch out your limbs as this feeling moves through you,
This feeling of energised wakefulness,
Knowing that you have given yourself the best restful sleep that you could possibly have and as you take this stretch into your whole body,
As you take in how it feels to wake to a new day with this energy flowing through you and when you are ready,
Becoming more aware of your surroundings,
Taking a deep breath and when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
