Welcome to this meditation on embracing setbacks with compassion.
My name is Anna Kumor.
Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
You may sit or lie down,
Whatever feels most supportive for you right now.
Allow your hands to rest naturally.
And when you are ready,
Gently close your eyes and soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.
Again,
Inhale deeply and release your breath and let go of any tension in your shoulders.
Today's meditation is about embracing setbacks with compassion.
Every life includes moments where things don't go as planned,
Where progress feels slow,
Or where we stumble along the way.
Setbacks are part of being human and how we respond to setbacks shapes our experience.
Now,
Gently bring to mind a recent setback.
It might be something small or something that has been weighing on you for quite some time.
There's no need to analyze it.
Simply acknowledge that it happened.
Notice any feelings that arise.
Perhaps frustration,
Disappointment,
Sadness,
Or doubt.
Allow these feelings to be present without pushing them away.
You are simply observing them.
Now,
Imagine offering yourself the same kindness that you would give a close friend.
If someone you cared about experienced this setback,
What would you say to them?
Perhaps something like,
It's okay.
You're doing your best.
One moment does not define you.
One performance doesn't define you.
One mistake does not define you.
You deserve that same kindness and understanding.
Now,
Take a slow breath in.
And as you exhale,
Imagine softening around the experience.
Setbacks are not the end of the path.
Often,
They are simply part of the learning,
Part of the growth,
And part of the unfolding of life.
Each challenge carries something to teach us about patience,
Resilience,
Or compassion.
With your next breath in,
Silently say to yourself,
I am allowed to be imperfect.
With your breath out,
I respond to myself with kindness and compassion.
Feel the release of any harsh judgment,
Letting it soften and allowing understanding to take its place.
Place your hand on your heart and feel the warmth of this gesture.
When setbacks arise,
May you meet them with patience,
Understanding,
And compassion.
Because with every step,
Even the difficult ones,
These are part of your journey forward.
