Taking some time to sit down,
With your feet on the floor,
With your hands on your lap,
Taking a gentle deep breath in and out,
And closing the eyes,
Allowing the eyes to rest and relax,
And connecting with your breath,
In and out,
No need to change the depth or the speed of your breath,
Just bringing your awareness to the in and the out.
So often,
After a day's work,
We find ourself thinking about what happened during the day.
Imagine that the mind is like a beautiful pond in a beautiful meadow,
Our thoughts are like stones thrown into the pond,
Creating ripples,
And as the stones fall to the bottom of the pond,
They disturb the sand and the dirt,
Making the water cloudy and dirty.
Imagine the stones stopping now,
And watch and feel and sense and imagine as the ripples slowly move out to the edges of the pond and stop,
The surface becoming still,
Calm,
Almost mirror-like,
And looking underneath the surface now,
Noticing the dirt and the sand settling back down,
The water becoming clearer and clearer,
Almost crystal clear now.
As the ripples disappear,
As the water becomes clearer and cleaner,
So your mind is doing the same,
Calming down,
Becoming quieter and quieter,
And you can bring this quiet mind back with you,
As you have a gentle stretch now,
A slightly deeper breath in and out and open your eyes,
Returning to the day.
