Drift off to restorative sleep; gentle guidance to help you release concerns of the past and the future and be present in this moment. Soothing waves, relaxing natural sounds, and quiet music. I wish you sweet dreams. I created this meditation for my own use, during a time of great change in my life. It helped me sleep during a period of intense trauma... and then it occurred to me that it might help others as well. I hope it helps you. Namaste. [Mixed and mastered for use with headphones.]

Dear one,

Begin to notice the natural rhythm of your breath.

Effortlessly,

You inhale.

Effortlessly,

You exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Begin to notice the beat of your heart.

How your heartbeat and your breath occur without thought,

Without resistance.

Allow your body to relax into the surface upon which it rests.

Are there any places where you feel tension or discomfort?

Bring your attention to those places now.

Envision that tension or that discomfort releasing,

Untangling,

Easing.

Relax your body and your mind and bring your attention back to your breathing.

Notice the moment when inhaling becomes exhaling.

When exhaling becomes inhaling.

Present moment.

Perfect moment.

Effortless moment.

Inhale.

As you exhale now,

Allow the last few hours of your day to flow out with your breath.

Release them.

Inhale.

As you exhale now,

Allow your experiences of the last few days to flow away with your breath.

Release them.

Inhale.

As you exhale now,

Allow the last few weeks of your life to flow away with your breath.

Release them.

The past has already taken place.

There is nothing you need to do now to alter it.

Release the past as you release your breath.

Thoughts come.

Notice them.

Note that they are but thoughts.

You do not need to dwell upon them.

You do not need to judge them.

Simply notice them and allow them to flow out with your breath.

Release them.

This is your time to be free from thoughts.

This is your moment to be at peace.

Now,

This present moment is for you to simply be.

To breathe.

To relax your body.

To relax your mind.

To rest.

There may have been things you did well today.

There may have been things you feel you did not do well today.

Release judgment of what has taken place.

That is the past.

The past does not exist in this present moment.

Thoughts of things you may need or want to do tomorrow may arise.

Notice them.

Allow them to flow away with your breath.

In this moment,

There is nothing you need to do about tomorrow.

Tomorrow has not yet come.

When it does,

You will be rested and ready to meet it mindfully.

Return your attention to your breath.

In this moment,

There is nothing you need to do.

Simply notice your breath.

Simply notice your heartbeat.

Present moment.

Perfect moment.

Give yourself permission in this moment to simply be.

Perfect in spite of your perceived imperfections.

Lawless in spite of your perceived flaws.

Release worries and thoughts of mistakes.

You have learned lessons and you will retain those lessons.

You have grown from your experience of today.

This day is in the past.

The future has not yet come.

There is only the now.

There is only your breath.

There is only your heartbeat.

Present moment.

Perfect moment.

Give yourself permission in this moment to simply be.
