In this fast-paced world,

It can sometimes be difficult to give ourselves the rest and silence that we actually need.

This practice is designed to help you unwind from a busy day at work or any other moment that you feel like you need to come back into your inner awareness and turn off the lights of the outside world.

Let's start with settling in our bodies.

Release any areas of tension,

Maybe your neck or shoulders,

Maybe your stomach or jaw,

Without judgement and with a gentle awareness,

Now become aware of areas in your body that feel comfortable,

Soothing,

Maybe it's the palm of your hand,

The back of your legs,

Tune into this feeling of softness.

Now imagine with your inhale that you are transferring this feeling of soothing right into this place where you are holding onto tension and as you exhale,

Imagine you are breathing out that tension.

Breathe in,

Draw some of that soothing energy,

That softness into that place and exhale and release any tension or pain.

Feel the constriction in your shoulders,

Neck,

Jaw,

Back dissipate,

Dissolve.

Now scan your body and notice where you can invite in a sense of release.

Allow your body to become heavier,

Like a glass of water that you fill up right until the edge and then you slowly move it and put it on a table.

After a few seconds,

Water stops moving.

Become aware of the same sense of stillness in your body,

Bringing your awareness now into your breath,

Allow your breath to be slow and soft,

Like the gentle waves of an ocean,

Feel a sense of softness in your breath,

Slow breath and as your breathing slows down how does your mind?

Can you allow the mud in your waters to settle?

Can you invite in this stillness so that you can receive more clarity in your life?

Coming to that inner stillness again,

A sense of peace,

Deep tranquility that rests at the core of your being.

Can you allow your body now to melt even further in your mattress,

Allowing every exhale to make each body part even heavier as if with every breath out the earth can carry you even more.

Every breath out becoming a few millimetres closer to earth,

You feel like you are being breathed more than actively engaging.

During your day,

You are carrying so many responsibilities and burdens on yourself.

Imagine that you are taking these heavy,

Big rocks off your shoulders now and giving them back to earth,

Feel the relief,

A sense of lightness and maybe you feel the need to sigh as you exhale,

Making any noise as a form of deep release,

Your nervous system calms down,

Your body at deep peace,

Your mind at deep peace,

Your glass of water still and full,

Filling up your own cup before you pour into someone else's,

Slow,

Deep breaths,

Surrendering to the healing darkness of the night,

Slowly your nervous system is winding down,

Surrendering to the stillness within you,

Deep peace,

Your body at ease,

Your mind at ease,

Finding safety where you are,

It is safe for you to fully let go,

Your breath leading you in a deeper,

Profound state of sleep.
