Hi and welcome to today's uplifting meditation to fill your own cup.
With the busyness of our everyday lives,
The demands of young children,
Family,
A household to run,
Jobs to do and other external stressors,
It's easy to always be feeling on.
With very little downtime,
You might feel depleted,
On edge and irritable because not getting enough me time drains your cup.
This meditation practice is exactly that.
A little bit of me time to refill your own cup of joy,
Happiness,
Self-care and self-love.
A time to replenish those stores of mental,
Emotional and physical energy.
Now is your time to recharge.
As you arrive at this practice,
Give yourself permission to be right here,
Right now.
Everything else can wait for a few minutes.
Trust me,
The world won't fall apart.
Okay,
So allow yourself to settle in now,
Making any adjustments necessary,
Then finding a place of stillness.
Just focusing on the breath,
Following the natural rhythm and just start to observe the natural rise and fall of the body as you inhale and exhale.
Now shift your awareness to the body and feel your whole being in the space that it is in.
All the way from the top of your head,
Down to spine,
Down to your sit bones and the soles of your feet.
Feel your body become heavier as you consciously relax and soften all the muscles.
Whatever is going on in your life right now,
Wherever you are at,
Take this moment just to be with whatever thoughts,
Feelings and sensations arise without judgment.
This practice of mindfulness includes accepting our thoughts and feelings,
Whether positive or negative,
And immersing ourselves in the present moment without evaluating it.
So as you sit here,
Notice how you are starting to take care of yourself.
Taking care of yourself is keeping your cup full.
If you don't do things to keep your cup full,
You have nothing left to give or share with others.
This tends to be a tough concept for most women,
As we have been programmed genetically and socially to be the caregivers,
To put others first.
Often we think we don't deserve to take care of ourselves until everyone else is happy.
But there's one problem with that.
There is only one you and there are only so many hours in the day.
You can't give everything to everyone all the time.
This will make you feel depleted emotionally,
Mentally and physically exhausted with nothing left in the tank,
With empty batteries.
At that point,
Your cup is empty.
When you realize that your cup has run empty,
Only you can get yourself out of it.
It is your responsibility to take the time to do what feeds your soul.
When you do this,
The world won't fall apart.
People won't hate you.
People won't think you're an incompetent loser.
People won't think you are selfish.
When you take care of you first,
You are happier.
You have more energy to care for the ones you love.
You are calmer.
Your body feels better.
Your mind is clearer.
And people want to be around you,
Because you give off a good positive vibe.
So the more you do for yourself,
The more you can do for others.
Now I want you to visualize a beautiful chalice and visualize every detail of it.
The shape,
What material it is made of.
Perhaps it's made of silver or gold or another metal.
Is it engraved or bejeweled?
Now visualize this cup being filled up.
Imagine it being filled up with your favorite color.
See it being filled up halfway,
Then two thirds,
All the way filled up to the brim.
See it overfilling and spilling out,
Pouring all over the sides.
And see it spilling over and over,
Spilling all over you,
Touching the ground around you,
The people around you,
Places around you,
And all the way out into the world,
Spreading luminous positive vibes of love,
Self-care and recharged energy.
Now as we conclude this meditation practice,
Allow yourself to be bathed in this infinite recharged energy a little longer,
A little longer,
As you continue to sit here in meditation by yourself.
