Meditation for releasing emotions.
Sometimes negative emotions can build up in us.
Maybe we feel anxious,
Stressed or angry.
That's when our mind begins to churn and the body tenses up.
And when you feel this way,
It can be helpful to release these emotions.
Like a pressure valve letting out steam.
Sit or lay down in a comfortable position with your spine erect.
And close your eyes.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Inhale fully.
And then exhale slowly and gently.
Do these several times.
Noticing how your chest rises and falls with every breathing cycle.
Recognize the emotions that you're feeling.
You don't have to do anything with them.
Simply be aware of them.
It can be helpful to name the emotions.
Is there a particular spot in your body where you feel that emotion?
Maybe in your stomach?
Or maybe your shoulders are tensed?
Perhaps it's your chest that feels tight?
Instead of trying to push the feelings away,
Once you start to notice where the tension is building up in your body,
Visualize yourself with your hand taking that energy out of your body and bringing it in front of you.
With your two hands holding it,
Take the time to watch it.
What shape does it have?
How big or how small is it?
Is it soft or the opposite?
Take the time to really pay attention to every detail of that emotion in front of you.
Notice how now that it is in front of you,
It doesn't have a hold on you.
It just is.
And with its presence,
It brings a listen.
It brings thoughts and emotions,
And that is totally okay.
It is right now a part of you.
And so,
I want you,
Once you're ready,
To let it back in you so it can finish the journey through you.
Now bring your awareness to your breath.
You are breathing in peace and breathing out the negative emotions.
With every inhale,
You feel calmer,
And with every exhale,
You feel the emotion is ready to let go and move on from you.
It may help you to imagine that feeling like a little light,
The same color than the object that you were facing.
And as you continue to breathe in and out,
Watch that light beginning to disappear.
Watch that energy simply moving away.
Now you are at rest,
Both in your body and mind.
You can think clearly,
And your muscles are relaxed.
Your emotions are not controlling you.
Your mind is at peace.
Enjoy this state for a moment.
Appreciate how it feels in your body,
That space,
That lightness,
That peace.
And remember,
You are doing this.
You have power over your emotions,
And not the other way around.
You are in control,
And when you put your mind to it,
You can reach any state of happiness,
Of freedom,
Of serenity that you desire.
To finish,
Put both hands on your heart and a smile on your face.
Breathe in gratitude to your heart and to yourself for doing the courageous act of letting go of that emotion.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes and come back to where you left off.
Notice how your situation has seemed to change now that you can think clearly again,
Without the stressful negative emotions.
You can do this exercise as often as you need.
Whenever negative emotions begin to build in you,
Use this process to release them.
