Meditation for calm.
Lie down or sit with your spine erect in a relaxed and comfortable position.
Close your eyes and feel the floor or bed beneath you.
Pay attention to every part of your skin in contact with that surface.
Where does it start touching that surface?
When does it stop?
How does it feel?
Now bring your attention to your breath.
Feel the air coming into your lungs,
Raising your belly and slowly going out.
This is rhythmically going in and out.
Notice how your body is beginning to relax.
Your muscles release the tension they're holding with every single breath.
Feel the peace settling in every part of your body with every exhale you take.
Immerse yourself in this present moment.
Now picture a lake.
Maybe it is one you go to often or maybe it is from a picture.
Maybe it's simply coming from your imagination.
Just visualize this lake in your mind.
Notice how the light dances on the surface of the lake.
The sunlight strikes the water and reflects like glittering jewels.
Sometimes the lake is calm and glassy,
Perfectly reflecting everything that passes over it.
Birds.
Clouds.
Sun.
Moon.
Stars.
Over time,
The surface gets choppier.
As the wind blows,
Waves move across the surface.
During the winter,
The surface of the lake might even be frozen.
Our minds are often like the surface of this lake,
During difficult times they become choppy and even upset.
But below the surface,
Calm is always available.
In your mind,
Hear the gentle sound of the water lapping against the shore.
Again and again,
The water comes forward and then retreats.
Forward and back.
Forward and back.
Come on with that rhythm.
As you inhale,
Feel the water coming to the shore and watch it retreat as you exhale.
There is no hurry,
No rush.
As you listen to the sound of the water,
Feel the sense of calm in your body and in your mind.
You are at peace.
You are not hurried,
Not rushed.
Listen as the birds in the trees softly chirp.
Feel the breeze burst slightly against your skin.
Admire the light dancing on the surface of the lake.
Continue enjoying this view and this lake for a few more minutes.
Feel its peace and calm envelope you.
Notice how it fills your soul.
It Remembers All about being alive.

.
Now,
Bring your attention back to your breath.
Slowly breath in and hold the breath for a few seconds.
And then exhale slowly,
Feeling all leftover tensions melt away from you.
Deep breath in.
And deep breath out.
Open your eyes.
You're calm and at rest.
Start moving gently your body and welcome back to the world.
