Hey,
I'm Allie.
Nervous system regulation is everywhere right now,
But a lot of people hear it and think,
Okay,
But what does that actually mean practically for me?
So here's how I like to explain it to my yoga clients.
Your nervous system has different states of regulation.
There's the calm and connected state where you feel safe and you feel present.
Then you have this active state where you feel more stressed,
You're more wired or even on edge.
There's the shutdown state where you feel completely numb,
Foggy,
Or just completely drained too.
Regulation just means having the tools to notice which state you're in and gently move towards the calm one when you need to.
That might be breath work,
Movement,
Humming,
Or just putting your feet on the ground and actually feeling the earth beneath you.
It's not about staying calm all the time.
That's really not realistic for us.
It's about building your capacity to come back to steady more easily,
More often.
So I've got several practices built around this specifically from anything from like quick resets to a longer somatic session.
If this is new language for you that's a great place to start exploring.
