Welcome,
This yoga nidra is designed to help you find a deep sense of calm.
Let's start by settling the body.
Making sure that you lay down in a way that's most comfortable,
Most peaceful for you right now.
So notice if you still want to make some subtle shifts,
Maybe positioning the head a little bit differently,
The arms a little bit further or closer to the body.
Just noticing what's going to help you to give yourself that ultimate level of comfort.
And once you've arrived at that point,
Allow your eyelids to softly meet as you close your eyes from seeing the external world around you.
Instead,
Opening up your inner eyes as you start to gaze more inwardly,
Noticing what the body feels like right now.
As if scanning it with an internal set of eyes.
Feeling if you can soften the feet a little more.
Then looking with your internal eyes to the lower legs as you let them weigh down.
Feeling the upper legs,
Letting them sink down a little deeper into the surface beneath you.
Internally seeing your hips,
The whole back being supported by the earth.
Seeing internally the softness of your belly.
Seeing the inside of the chest,
The back of the shoulders as you allow the whole trunk to soften.
With the softness of your inner gaze,
Seeing both upper arms,
Forearms,
All the way into the hands and fingertips.
Try the touch of your inner eye,
Allowing the whole arms,
Hands and fingers to completely relax,
Soften.
Seeing from the inside your peaceful throat and neck.
And then scanning with that internal set of eyes the softness of the face and the heaviness of the back of the head being supported by the surface beneath you.
Notice your sense of hearing.
Notice how you can pick up on all the layers of sound,
Starting in the far distance.
Maybe even sounds outside.
Then the layer of sound in the near distance,
Within the room you're resting in.
And then a layer even closer.
The layer of sound around your body,
Within your body.
The sound of your breath.
And maybe even internally the sound of your own beating of your heart.
Listening not only with your ears but with your whole body.
Listening and feeling within.
Listen if there is a sense of restlessness maybe,
Tiredness,
Maybe contentness.
Just listening with the overall feeling within us right now.
Knowing what's here.
And feel how you can embrace what it is you're feeling fully.
Acknowledging that there is nothing to be fixed or changed,
You're just feeling into your experience.
And let's make that our intention.
To simply embrace what's here throughout the whole practice.
While we know there is nothing that you can do wrong or right,
You're just listening to my voice while listening and feeling deeply within,
Into your own experience.
Feeling how all tension melts away,
Feeling all worry drift away while you let your body reside in a growing sense of ease,
A growing level of comfort as you allow the body to rest here,
To let go a little more moment to moment.
Fully absorbed in this moment.
Fully aware of everything that is present.
Allowing all sensations,
All feelings,
All thoughts to enter into your experience.
Letting them be part of the completeness of the present moment without focusing on anything in particular.
Allowing awareness to spread all over.
Body entering into a state of rest.
Let's flow our restful attention to the right thumb.
Right index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger and little finger.
Spaces in between the fingers of the right hand.
Tips of the fingers.
Feel the palm of the hand,
The back of the hand.
Feel the right wrist,
The forearm,
Elbow and upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit,
The right ribs,
The right side of the hip,
Upper leg,
Knee,
Lower leg,
Ankle,
Heel,
The sole of the right foot and the top of the foot,
All toes of the right foot,
Tips of the toes,
Whole right side of the body,
Left thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Little finger.
Spaces in between the fingers,
Tips of the left fingers,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Left shoulder,
Armpit,
Left side of the ribs,
Hip,
Upper leg,
Knee,
Lower leg,
Heel,
Ankle,
Sole of the left foot,
Top of the left foot,
All five toes,
Tips of the toes,
Left side of the body,
Awareness to the navel,
Restful attention to the heart,
The center of the throat,
Both lips,
The teeth inside your mouth,
Inside of the right cheek,
Inside of the left cheek,
Tip of the nose,
Right cheekbone,
Left cheekbone,
The right ear and all folds and grooves of the ear,
All the way into the inner ear,
Left ear,
The folds of the ear and all the way into the left inner ear,
Third eye in between the eyebrows,
The whole softness of the forehead,
Crown of the head and the whole back of the body,
Resting deeply into the support of the earth beneath,
The whole front of the body,
Touching the softness of your clothes in the air and sky above and now feeling the whole body at once,
Sensing the peaceful quality of your resting body,
That within this resting body,
Notice the effortless sense of your breath,
Softness of inhalations followed by exhalations,
Not controlling the breath,
Not manipulating anything,
Simply riding the whole wave of the breath with your gentle attention,
Feeling the whole body as you breathe,
Aware of the wave of the breath within the whole body,
On your next natural exhalation,
Feeling to the right side of the body only now and still feeling only the right side as you inhale still,
Then the next exhalation you feel only through the left hemisphere of the body and the inhalation then again feel only through the left,
We continue breathing like this on every exhale,
Switching awareness to the opposite side of the body,
So feeling one side as you exhale and inhale and switching to the opposite side of the body as you exhale and inhale,
Blowing the easeful breath,
Your peaceful awareness like this,
Switching through opposite sides of the body at each exhale,
Gather awareness now into the lower belly as you still feel your soft breath,
Feeling the breath here in the area of your lower belly and sense how every exhale releases your whole system into a deeper state of rest,
A deeper letting go into ease every time you breathe out,
A feeling of groundedness and peace growing in the lower belly with every breath,
All attention flows towards your third eye,
The place in between your eyebrows while keeping your eyes completely relaxed,
There's no tension there and in your mind's eye,
Feel or see a big silver moon just above you,
Beautiful big silver moon,
Beautiful big silver moon,
Feeling its calming reflection shining down on you,
Feel how you're being calmed by the silver light of that beautiful moon above you,
Relaxing the whole body,
Silver light reflected by the moon's surface touching the body,
Entering into the body,
Filling the whole body with a soft deeply calming energy,
Whole body being filled with this silver light,
Sensing the whole body merging with this peaceful energy,
Drifting into the softness of this light,
Dissolving into the easeful qualities of its reflection,
Until all that remains is a reflection of awareness itself,
So drifting into the space of awareness,
As you sink into this deeper state of relaxation,
Start feeling the outline of the body again,
Gently deepening the breath a couple of times,
As you let a soft sense of new alertness,
Wakefulness to flow back into the body,
Preparing it to gently start to wake up again,
As you very slowly bring some movement back in fingers and toes,
While still remaining that beautiful quality of calmness that you just generated within,
Acknowledging that,
Feeling this shift you created,
Whether that's just very subtle or easily felt,
Acknowledging that,
Feeling a sense of gratitude for that,
As you now slowly open your eyes again,
Preparing yourself to move into the rest of your day,
I want to thank you for practicing together with me,
And I hope to see you here again soon,
Thank you.
