For me,
I would say that I'm grateful for becoming a mom.
That full on experience for me.
I struggled with postpartum depression.
I had depression before I had my daughter,
My first daughter.
That entire journey,
Literally,
Of becoming a mom from the day that I found out that I was with child to the moment she was born.
I look back on that experience and I'm grateful because it taught me so many things about myself that I never,
Never would have known.
Becoming a mom has helped me come into my own.
It's helped me to be more of who I am and who I am becoming and who I want to be.
So that's my experience,
Becoming a mom,
Struggling with postpartum depression,
General depression I guess,
And owning it.
Not sitting in it,
Not dwelling on it.
Owning it,
Recognizing it,
And then moving forward,
Continuously moving forward.
What becoming a mother taught me was that I could keep going,
That I could keep living even if my life didn't turn out the way I thought it was going to turn out.
I told people I wanted a dog and a fish.
I didn't want kids.
And now that I have two beautiful daughters,
I couldn't see my life any other way.
And I'm grateful for that experience.
So I want you to sit with yourself for a few moments.
Think about a moment that you want to write about,
An experience that you want to share with yourself in your journal.
And dig deep.
Remember how you felt in those moments.
Bring everything back to mind,
If you will.
And then come out of it,
Come out of that moment,
Because you're in the present,
Be mindful,
And write about it.
Write about why you're grateful for that experience.
I think you'll be very surprised to see how you feel at the end of this journal part.
So write about an experience that you had that you're grateful for,
And I will see you tomorrow.
