Welcome,

Friend.

Let's go to your happy place.

You can do this meditation sitting or lying down,

Wherever you can be comfortable and won't be disturbed for a moment.

Let's start by closing our eyes,

Taking a few nice,

Long,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

Breathe into the nose and either breathe out through the mouth or the nose.

This time is for you.

This is a way to journey to a place that makes you feel calm,

Joyful,

Present.

So I want you to think of a place that makes you feel those things.

Perhaps this is a spot in nature or in your house or some place you've visited in the past.

This made you feel so alive and relaxed.

Bring that place to your mind now.

Imagine that you are there and use all five of your senses to describe and experience your happy place.

Start by noticing what you see.

Really take in and soak in the view.

Notice the colors,

The shapes,

The textures.

What do you see in your happy place?

Next,

What do you hear?

Describe the sounds,

The soundscape of your happy place.

Perhaps you hear birds singing or the ocean waves or the voice of a loved one.

Take a moment and listen.

Next,

What do you smell?

Is there a particular smell of this place?

Does it smell like grass or flowers or freshly baked chocolate chip cookies?

Really soak in the smell of this place.

Next,

Notice what you feel.

What are you wearing?

Can you feel the clothes against your skin?

Perhaps you can feel the sun on your face with the ground under your feet,

The breeze in your hair.

Really feel everything you feel in your happy place.

Lastly,

What do you taste?

Are you eating a favorite food or drinking something yummy?

Notice if there is a particular taste associated with your happy place.

Take a moment now with all five senses open and awake to experience being in your happy place.

Remembering to keep taking those nice,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

Feeling the muscles of your body relax.

Feeling safe and calm.

Remember,

You can come back to this happy place whenever you want.

All you need to do is close your eyes,

Open your senses,

And you will be there.

Feel free to hang out in your happy place for as long as you wish.

When you're ready to come back,

Open your eyes slowly.

Take a nice stretch.

Land again in the space around you.

No place in the world brings me more peace and a sense of myself than the dock on the river of my childhood home, where my dad still lives today. Thanks for bringing me back there this morning, Melani.
