In Sanskrit, the word Sadhana means daily spiritual practice: a person’s unique effort to connect with the divinity inside of them. It’s any daily activity or practice we use for our spiritual growth. In this short talk, we look at cultivating the habit of joy by doing something every day that literally makes your heart sing. When we do things just for the sake of joy and not tied to any end result, it becomes an act of spirituality. In essence, we find our Sadhana.

Hey there,

Inside Timer.

My name is Anthony Lombardo and thank you so much for allowing me to share a few thoughts of inspiration and wisdom with you today.

If you were to do something every day that brings you so much joy that it literally makes your heart sing,

What would it be?

What if you did it just for a hundred days straight?

A blogger colleague of mine told me for a hundred days straight and for multiple hours a day,

She lip-synced.

She called it her hundred days of joy.

Personally,

I love this idea.

You see too often in life we focus much of our time and energy on activities that we hope will net us a benefit in the future.

Whether for our career,

Business,

Or a personal goal we have,

What we do the most is always tied to an end result.

But what about doing for doing sake simply because it makes you happy?

No agenda,

No metric to measure your success,

No seeking to become an expert,

No motive other than it makes you damn happy and lights up your soul.

You do it because it's an outlet for you to fully express and embody your true nature.

It fills you with energy.

You get lost in it without realizing how much time has gone by.

And by doing it every day,

Eventually it becomes an act of spirituality.

It turns into your sadhana.

Sadhana is a Sanskrit word that means daily spiritual practice.

It's a person's unique effort to connect with the divinity inside of them and all around them.

It's any daily activity or practice we use for our own personal growth and to understand our life on deeper levels.

Truly a sadhana could be anything.

Any activity that lights up your soul and makes your heart sing is a sadhana.

And what better way to connect with your higher self than doing something that brings you joy every single day.

The only rule to a sadhana practice is that you commit to it every day.

Start by finding your hundred days of joy and make it non-negotiable.

What's one thing that you always have been interested in doing but never found the time for?

What is something that you love doing but you don't do it nearly enough?

What if you took that one curiosity you put off indulging and just committed to it for a hundred days straight?

That's a little over three months.

Imagine the shift that would create in your life.

And the only expectation you have is joy.

Imagine how liberating it would feel to do something without there being any stakes,

Any expectations,

Or any link to an outcome besides pure unadulterated joy.

You'll begin training your mind to gravitate towards more situations,

Events,

And activities in your life just because they make you happy.

All the while,

Untangling your mind from believing that everything you do during the day needs to always be tied to some purpose or end result.

When you commit to a daily habit of joy,

There's never any destination.

The practice in and of itself is the destination.

So there is no failure and there is no success.

So let me rephrase the question that I posed earlier to something writer Elizabeth Gilbert poses in her book Big Magic.

What do you love doing so much that the words failure and success essentially become irrelevant?

Isn't that the sweet spot of existence?

So I urge you,

Start today,

To think about what brings you joy.

Find your version of lip syncing just like my blogger friend did and hit play every single day.

Thanks for listening.

Much love.
