All right,
Get yourselves ready for yoga nidra.
We'll practice yoga nidra now,
So if you need blankets,
You know what to do.
You know the situation,
Guys.
You can actually do the seated.
I mean,
I have,
But it's.
Well,
You know,
Yoga,
A lot of meditation is done in sarkasana,
Cross-legged posture.
But there's a lot of yang involved in that.
So if you're doing traditional sukham in zizi,
So sukha is zizi posture,
Sukhasana,
In other words,
Cross-legged.
It's a fabulous way of doing meditation,
However it does require a bit of effort,
Whereas this doesn't,
And lying in shavasana gives you that easy way of moving into that hypercognitive state,
The downside is,
Of course,
Is that we can fall asleep.
And that's not really a downside,
But in Sukhasana,
I mean,
I have fallen asleep in Sukhasana a lot.
So you can fall asleep sitting up too,
But it's not so conducive to sleep.
And so that's why we tend to do meditation sitting in a cross-legged position.
This practice,
Though,
Was actually designed to be done in Shavasana,
And for the reason that I just explained,
Is that we're looking to get that hypercognitive state and somehow or other stay there without falling through it,
Which I find really challenging.
And I often don't even bother nowadays.
I just recognize that I will fall asleep and that's the end of it.
And,
And that's fine with me.
So I don't have a problem there.
So it's your practice and you want to just allow it to be whatever occurs for you without trying to do anything.
And not trying.
So as you all know,
This practice is about coming to that bliss consciousness and getting in touch with your subconscious mind.
Um and planting seeds of manifestation within it.
You don't have to say sankalpa if you don't want to.
If you just want to lie in peace and not worry about that,
Or worry is the wrong word,
Not concern yourself with that,
That's fine too.
It's just that it's good to do it.
It's advisable because it's very powerful,
But you don't have to do anything.
So the sankalpa,
As we all know,
Is said in the present tense,
So it's something that you want to manifest in your life.
Something that's going to help you grow as a person.
Drop into your heart and listen to what it has to say.
And then if something comes to you that's useful.
Then you can use that as a Sankalpa.
Or if you're working on something that hasn't yet manifest,
Then you can return to that,
So it's up to you.
Or nothing at all.
And then we're just going to start off with the traditional way of doing this.
Which is coming to the right hand thumb.
So just take your awareness to the body parts that I suggest.
So we start with the thumb on the right hand.
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Pinky finger,
Back of the hand,
Palm of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit,
Ribcage,
Waist,
Hip,
Thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
Sole of the right foot,
Top of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
Think about your whole right-hand side of your body.
Just take your awareness to the right-hand side of your body.
The right side.
And then coming over to the left hand.
And we're going to the left thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Pinky finger,
Back of the hand,
Palm of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit,
Ribcage,
Waist,
Hip,
Thigh,
Knee,
Shin,
Ankle,
Sole of the left foot,
Top of the foot,
Big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
Simply be aware of your left.
The left of your body.
And then thinking about the back of the body.
Bring the awareness to the back of the body,
Both heels together.
Both carbs together.
Back of the knees Back of the thighs.
Buttocks,
Or spine.
Middle spine.
Back of the neck.
Back of the head.
Top of the head.
Forehead.
Eyes.
Those.
Mouse.
Throat,
Chest.
Pelvis.
Both feet together.
Both legs together.
Both hands together.
Both arms together.
The torso,
The head,
The whole of the body.
Just simple awareness of the body,
Nothing else,
That's all.
Come to the breath.
Feel the breath moving in and out of the nostrils.
Cool on the way in.
Warm on the way out.
Belly rise.
Belly full.
Belly rise.
Belly full.
Bring the number 12 to mind.
Twelve is a very sacred number.
Breathing twelve.
Breathe out 12.
Just let the pause happen.
Reason 11.
Result 11.
And then just count your way downward.
Till you get to 1.
And then,
Nothing,
Just let the breath be.
No same,
Zero.
We haven't got to zero yet,
Or we've had to start again,
Just let go of the count.
And be aware.
Of the breath.
Imagine,
If you will,
The feeling of being anxious.
That feeling that we get when we're anxious in the body.
And in the mind,
And notice the connection there.
It's not a bad thing,
It's just part of being human.
And then take the opposite when we're at ease,
When you're totally at ease.
Everything is like easy.
And calm.
Content.
Conjure these words into mind and feel that,
Feel that.
In your body and mind.
Then see if you can bring a feeling of annoyance,
You know,
When you're annoyed at something or other.
And how that feels and manifests in your physical.
And now harmony.
Where you know that beautiful feeling like I got this morning on my walk,
That harmonious feeling where it's just lovely that and then take your third eyes,
Sorry,
Take your physical eyes and gently gaze at your third eye.
And those those shapes and stuff that's going on there.
Another lovely Sanskrit word is called chidakasha.
Chidokasho.
So just be involved with the chilikasha.
Your subconscious mind.
I'll suggest some.
Images,
Visualize them to the best of your ability in there.
Don't try and do anything,
Just allow them to,
Some of them will come,
Some of them won't,
It doesn't matter.
A white horse galloping through a green field.
A white horse galloping through a green field.
I think they're called greys actually.
A gum tree in the middle of the field by itself.
A gum tree in the middle of the field by itself.
A man playing a didgeridoo.
A man playing a didgeridoo.
Hot sun.
Hot sun.
Burning deserts.
Burning desert.
A lizard running across the hot sand.
A lizard running across the hot sand.
A broken car.
A broken car.
Sitting down by the lake.
Sitting down by the lake.
Ripples on the surface.
A feeling of union.
A feeling of oneness and union.
If you set a sankalpa at the beginning of the practice,
Now is the time to reintroduce it into your subconscious.
In the press.
And that's what it will understand.
It doesn't know the difference.
And because of this,
It will manifest in your life.
Then slowly start to become aware of your breath.
Of your physical being.
Gently start to move the body.
And take your time to come back.
Just take your time to come back.
The practice of Yoga Nidra is over.
