Hi,
This is Teresa Conte.
Welcome to tool number eight in the Just for Today series.
Today's tool reads,
Just for today,
I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax.
During this half hour,
Sometime I will try to get a better perspective of my life.
In today's busy world,
We may neglect taking time for ourselves and as a result,
Feel like our lives are out of balance and experience heightened levels of stress.
But regardless of our schedules,
Today's tool encourages us to take time to nourish and renew ourselves so we can live our lives with greater ease,
Joy,
And serenity.
What I've learned over the last year since my son Ian passed is that life can change on a dime.
And the things we regret at the end of our lives aren't that we didn't work hard enough,
But rather that we didn't take enough time to nourish our relationships with our family,
Our friends,
Do the things that were really important to us and the ways we wished we had lived our lives.
If 30 minutes feels like a stretch,
We can begin with 5,
10,
Or 15 minutes at the beginning of the day.
To perhaps take a few breaths,
Read something inspiring that lifts our spirit and helps us greet the day with greater joy and calmness.
And,
Most importantly,
We can take a few minutes to set our intentions for how we would like to show up that day.
How we wish to express ourselves in all of our interactions and relations.
When we set our intentions in this way,
Not just focused on what we want to accomplish,
But rather on who we want to be.
Our actions naturally become aligned with our deepest values,
And we begin to act from a place of kindness,
Compassion,
And presence.
And in doing so,
Our souls begin to grow,
We begin to flourish,
And we contribute to the love we wish to see in the world.
And then at the end of the day,
In the evening,
We can set aside another 5,
10,
Or 15 minutes to contemplate or journal on the day's experience,
Like the things that went well,
What we're grateful for,
What brought us joy,
Or moments that felt especially meaningful,
And perhaps for unexpected blessings.
We can also breathe in the good feelings that arise.
As we think of challenges,
We may have navigated with greater ease,
Patience,
Or clarity,
Perhaps as a result of taking time in the morning to get centered and prepare for how we wished to live that day.
So those are just a few thoughts about today's tool.
I hope you found them helpful and encouraging.
Feel free to adapt the practice in whatever way best serves your needs and resonates with you.
As always,
I appreciate your comments and the sharing of your experience.
I look forward to connecting with you next time for tool number line,
Our last tool in the Just For Today series.
That as we give to the world,
So the world will give to us.
Thanks so much for listening.
Wishing you a most wonderful day.
Bye for now.
