Hi,
This is Teresa Conte and today I'd like to talk with you about an experience I had that may resonate with you as well.
This morning,
My nervous system and feelings of anxiety were on overdrive.
Especially after encountering difficulty resolving a conflict I had with someone the other day.
So I asked my higher self in my journaling practice,
As I often do when I feel distressed.
What do I need to do to take care of myself today?
But first,
I wrote down a few personal responses,
Which included a few things like exercise,
Journal,
Do a guided meditation,
Sit in the power.
Do a vagus nerve activation.
I did the activation,
However I continued to feel anxious,
So I finished the practice with a meditation from Thich Nhat Hanh with one hand on my heart and the other on my belly.
And I continue to breathe as I work through the four lines of the practice I was using.
And much to my surprise,
I began to cry.
Like that was another loss when the person I was trying to repair with removed me from her community.
To put this in context,
If you don't know,
My son Ian passed in July 2025.
And I am grieving the loss of his physical presence.
Here's what came through in answer to my question of how to take care of myself today.
Perhaps it will speak to you.
The lesson for me?
Was to go to my higher self.
The source of love.
For the support.
Love and healing that I want and need.
Expecting others to fill those needs is setting ourselves up for failure and disappointment.
Because we're all human and in our vulnerability,
We may feel let down and confused by the lack of understanding or compassion that we anticipate or expect from others.
It's not their fault or ours.
It's the human condition.
And so we must reach out to a higher power.
By whatever name we call it.
To the source of all love.
Of unconditional love.
To the love that is the creative and bountiful source.
Of all that we need.
Let this be a reminder to reach out to that source,
To reach above the human dimension to the spiritual for all of our heart's desires and needs.
Only here will it come into full measure.
And I ended the journal,
As I often do,
With,
We love you.
Well,
I wasn't planning to share what I wrote in this morning's journal.
I felt it might contain a message for someone other than me.
And if you're listening and you feel that it spoke to you.
I'm so grateful.
And I do hope that it was helpful.
If so.
And you're comfortable,
Please do leave a comment.
With love.
Teresa.
