Take a moment to simply land where you are.
You don't need to do anything special.
You can close your eyes if that feels safe,
But I invite you to try keeping them open with a soft,
Heavy focus.
Let your gaze rest on a neutral spot in front of you.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
And as you exhale,
Feel your body settle into the chair.
Let the chair do the work of holding you up.
You can let go of the hold just for now.
Let's look at the room with fresh eyes.
Notice a shadow on the wall or the floor.
Don't try to change it or analyze it,
Just notice the shape of it.
Notice how the light might be hitting the edge,
A desk or a window frame.
There is a quiet stillness in these objects.
If your mind is racing,
Just gently steer it back to that one shadow,
That one patch of light.
Let it be your anchor.
Now let's expand our awareness to sound.
Beyond the sound of my voice,
What is the quietest thing you can hear?
Maybe it's the distant hum of the building,
The wind,
Or even just the sound of your own breath.
See if you can pick out one sound and follow it,
Noticing its rhythm.
This is about being present with what is,
Rather than what you think should be happening.
Just listening.
Now bring your attention to your physical body.
Feel the weight of your feet on the floor and your hands in your lap.
If you feel any tension in your jaw or your shoulders,
That rigidity we often carry when we're stressed,
See if you can invite a little more fluidity there.
Imagine that tension softening like ice turning to water.
You are steady,
Supported,
And connected to the ground beneath you.
Take one last slow breath.
Notice how it feels to simply exist in this room for five minutes.
As you prepare to move back into your day,
Remember that you can return to the sense of calm any time.
You don't need a special place.
You just need a shadow,
A sound,
Or the feeling of your feet on the floor.
When you're ready,
Let your focus sharpen and move forward with a bit more ease.
Thank you for joining me today.
Be well.
