Let's take this time together to slow down and reset with a simple but powerful breathing practice.
Box breathing.
Now here's how it works in case you've not heard about it.
We inhale through the nose for four counts.
We hold the breath for four counts and then we exhale through the mouth for four.
Then we hold again for another four.
Now we'll do three rounds of this,
Each round having about eight repetitions in them.
At the end of each round we'll do a short breath hold of 30 seconds to really let everything settle in.
So find a comfortable position,
Sitting,
Lying down,
Even at your desk is fine.
Soften your face and maybe let a little smile rest there.
And if you're ready,
Let's begin.
Okay,
Go ahead and empty your lungs completely and we'll start on my count three,
Two,
One.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
And inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale each inhale.
Begin in the belly,
Rising up through the chest.
Stay soft,
Stay here.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
You're doing great.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four.
And hold two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,

Exhale two,

Come back to the breath if the mind wanders.

And we'll just hold here for 30 seconds.

And gently inhale through the nose and hold.
And exhale as slowly as you can.
And just take a couple of natural breaths.
And notice how you feel.
Let any thoughts that arise just drift on by.

Let's move into round two.
Exhale everything out.
And we begin three,
Two,
One.
And inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,

Inhale.
These slower breaths are an invitation to be fully present.
You don't have to be anywhere else right now.

And just take a few natural breaths and check in with yourself what you notice.

Relax everything for these final 30 seconds.
And gently inhale through the nose.
Smile if it feels right and exhale slowly through the mouth.
And one more in through the nose and out with a sigh.
Beautiful work.
Let your breathing return to its own natural rhythm now.
Stay here for a moment.
Notice what's happening inside.
Your body,
Your thoughts,
Your energy.
We spend so much time reacting to the world around us but how we feel on the inside shapes everything we see on the outside.
