What if you could sleep with just as much ease as you once did when you were a baby?

Those were simpler times,

Weren't they?

Today,

Let's go back to them,

When all it took was for someone to read a bedtime story to you and your mind and body would relax into a state of deep rest.

Namaste,

My name is Soumya and I will be your guide for tonight.

This is a guided visualization where you will be taking a walk along the ocean.

By the end of the practice,

Hopefully,

Your mind and body will be in a state of complete relaxation and you will be ready to drift off into a state of deep sleep.

So whenever you feel ready,

Please change into something comfortable and let's get started.

To begin the practice,

Please lie down in a position that feels comfortable to you.

You may do this by lying down on your back or if you prefer to lie down on your side,

Then you may do that as well.

And if it's cold where you live,

You may want to cover yourself with a soft blanket.

Gently close your eyes.

Please do whatever you need to feel comfortable and at ease.

Take a deep breath in.

Fill your whole body.

And now,

Let it go.

Relaxing the body.

Breathing in again.

Hold for just a moment.

And let it go.

One more time at your own pace.

And then allow your breathing to come back to normal.

Gently continue breathing in and out.

Relaxing with every outgoing breath.

Letting your entire body melt onto the surface beneath you.

Allow Mother Earth to support you.

As you lie down and relax,

Allow your mind to imagine and drift off.

You find yourself standing at the edge of an ocean.

It's time for the sun to set.

An orange hue begins to spread across the sky above you.

You look at the horizon and notice the sun.

The light from it gently spreading across the sky,

Creating a mesmerizing blend of colors.

Signaling that it's time for you to rest.

You take off your footwear and allow yourself to feel the soft sand beneath your feet.

The sand is somewhat wet and feels cooling to the touch.

The beach is rather empty.

With some people taking a leisurely evening walk.

There seems to be an air of relaxation and peace all around you.

You take a deep breath in.

And immediately feel a sense of deep relaxation wash all over your mind and body.

The familiar scent of the sea breeze fills your nostrils and brings you back completely to this moment.

This day is now over and it's time to let the events of the day be gone.

You notice a flight of birds flying right in front of the sun.

Flying together in a symmetry,

Forming the letter V.

You smile and realize that birds too are heading back home.

Nature all around you is sending a loving message that it's time for rest and relaxation.

You begin walking along the seashore,

Holding your shoes in one hand.

Gentle waves from the ocean.

Kiss your feet and wash away all stress,

All anxiety from the day.

The ocean has existed long before you were here.

It has heard countless stories,

Been a source of comfort to thousands of people.

And it will continue to be here for a long,

Long time.

It's like walking alongside a wise old friend,

Whose very presence soothes and calms your soul.

So let go.

Release anything that no longer serves you.

Let it wash away all your pain,

All your conflicts,

All your suffering.

And allow yourself to feel calm,

Light and hopeful as you continue walking along the shore.

At the distance,

The first stars begin to twinkle in the sky.

The sun gives way to the moon,

And some streetlights begin to light up along the shore,

Allowing just enough light to help guide you on your path.

It is now time to head to a safe,

Cozy place to rest and recover.

You turn back and notice your footprints on the sand.

A wave swells from the ocean and makes its way to the shore,

Wiping away those imprints.

You sigh and then you smile.

The wiping away of the footprint seems symbolic.

It's a reminder that no matter what happened in the past,

You are no longer bound to it.

You can make a fresh start whenever you choose to do so.

Filled with a renewed sense of hope,

You begin walking forward and notice a beautiful,

Wide structure at a distance.

Curious,

You move closer.

The structure begins to come more in focus and you realize that it's a small,

Cozy,

Hut by the beach.

This hut has white walls,

A sloping,

Brick red roof,

And a picket fence all around it with a somewhat faded gate.

The hut faces the sea,

And yet it is placed at a safe distance.

Tall,

Lush,

Green trees surround the hut,

Making it a cozy corner for you to rest in.

Something about this setting feels very calming,

Very serene.

You make your way to the hut and gently pry the gate open.

As you enter the campus,

You know that you've come to the right place to rest.

The place seems perfectly untouched,

As though it was placed here just for you.

You enter through the main door and are welcomed by the smell of fresh roses.

Beds of which are growing all around the campus.

You take in a long,

Deep breath and make your way to the bed.

You are completely safe and protected here.

Next to the bed is a large,

Bay window through which gentle beams of the moonlight are falling on your bed.

You take one final look at the ocean,

Feeling so content and ready to surrender to the embrace of sleep.

Tonight,

The sea is your companion.

The sound of waves begin to lull you into a state of deep rest.

Deep rest.

Your breath is becoming calmer and deeper with every lap of the waves.

Your eyes begin to grow heavy and your body becomes very relaxed,

Melting even deeper into your bed.

Feeling completely safe,

Relaxed and protected.

You are aware that after a good night's sleep,

You are likely to wake up feeling well-rested,

Happy and ready for a new day.
