Today's session is going to be tapping on releasing the need to scroll through our phones and to scroll through social media.
Let's get started.
Thinking about how it feels when you are scrolling through your phone or think about how it feels when you just mindlessly pick up your phone and just stare at it.
Do you ever do that?
I know I do it often.
I pick up my phone and I open Instagram and I start scrolling.
I'm not even looking for anything and I find myself just thinking what am I doing?
What am I looking for?
And just 10 minutes later I'm scrolling and scrolling and I've got nothing done.
And so I wanted to tap on letting go of our phones,
Tap on letting go of that need to be on social media scrolling and looking at the same thing that we've looked at 10 minutes ago.
So thinking about how you feel when you pick up your phone and how you feel when you realize that you are mindlessly scrolling through your phone.
Think of the things that you could be doing that are productive or educational.
Really try to focus on that and think about where you feel in your body that need to scroll through your phone or that need to pick up your phone or that need to feel your phone give you an alert because there is a new update.
So taking all of that into consideration we'll start by taking a deep breath in and letting it out,
Sighing it out,
Screaming it out,
Whatever you gotta do.
And we'll start by tapping on the side of the hand,
The karate chop point.
Think about on a scale of 0 to 10 while you're tapping thinking about how it feels to be holding your phone.
You don't even have to hold it right now just think about it.
Keep that image in your mind and on a scale of 0 to 10 think about how powerful that phone feels in your hand.
Think about how drawn you feel to open your social media,
To open your email,
To open your messages and scroll.
The satisfaction of that scroll.
And on a scale of 0 to 10,
0 is being you feel no pull,
You feel no feelings of addiction or being drawn to the phone or social media and 10 is I cannot function without scrolling through social media.
I cannot function without my phone.
Just think about where you are and we'll keep tapping on this side of the hand.
Even though I feel drawn to my phone or electronics,
I am open to letting go of that feeling now.
Even though I am feeling addicted to being on my phone,
I am open to being okay with putting my phone down.
Even though I have to scroll through my phone,
I am open to letting go of that need to be on my phone.
Eyebrow point.
I have to scroll through social media.
Side of the eye.
I need to be on my phone.
Under the eye.
My phone keeps me from thinking about all the crap going on in my life.
Under the nose.
I need this electronic distraction.
Under the mouth.
If I don't have my phone on me,
I might miss something important.
Collarbone point.
I don't want to be left out.
I don't want to be the last to know.
Under the arm.
How do I feel when I am scrolling through social media?
Top of the head.
When I am done scrolling,
Does it leave me feeling good or empty?
Eyebrow point.
Is scrolling through my phone benefiting my life?
Side of the eye.
Do I need to have my phone right next to me at all times?
Under the eye.
Is it possible that I can shut my alerts off?
Under the nose.
Is it possible that I can check social media twice a day?
Under the lip.
Do I really need to check social media all day long?
Collarbone.
Is there something I could be doing that is more productive than scrolling through my phone?
Under the arm.
Is social media making my life better or more stressful?
Top of the head.
Feeling so drawn to my phone.
Eyebrow point.
I release this now.
Side of the eye.
Feeling so drawn to social media.
Under the eye.
I release this feeling now.
Under the nose.
Feeling so drawn to being updated and alerted.
Under the lip.
I release this now.
Collarbone.
I release the need to have my phone in my hand.
Under the arm.
I can set it on vibrate or turn the ringer on if someone needs me.
Top of the head.
I release the feeling of needing my phone.
Eyebrow point.
I release the feeling of being drawn to scrolling through my phone.
Side of the eye.
I release the need to constantly check social media.
Under the eye.
If people need me,
They will reach out to me.
Under the nose.
If it is an emergency,
People will reach out to me.
Under the lip.
I can let go of my phone today.
Collarbone.
I can be present for myself and for those around me.
Under the arm.
I can be free of electronics today.
Eyebrow point.
I can give myself a break from the screen today.
Side of the eye.
Some things may come up that are uncomfortable.
Under the eye.
But I'm going to try to embrace them.
Maybe I'll tap on them.
Maybe I'll write them down.
Under the nose.
But today I'm going to be open with a little bit of discomfort from being free of my phone.
Under the lip.
I'm going to embrace the day screen free.
Collarbone.
I'm going to find a project that I've been wanting to work on.
Maybe I'll start it today.
Under the arm.
I am open to putting my phone down for at least an hour today.
Top of the head.
I am open to being screen free for at least one hour today.
Eyebrow point.
I am open to seeing how that feels.
Side of the eye.
And if I can't do it tomorrow,
Then at least I know how I feel.
Under the eye.
I am open to trying.
Under the nose.
I am open to a little bit of change today.
Under the lip,
Letting go of my phone.
Collarbone.
Letting go of my phone.
Under the arm.
Releasing the need to scroll now.
Top of the head.
Being open to seeing how my day goes without screen time.
I honor all the work that I am doing today.
And I honor all the challenges that I may face today.
And I honor all of my strength,
My resilience,
And I honor who I am.
You can slowly stop tapping,
Take a deep breath,
Let it out.
And on a scale of 0-10 again,
We'll revisit that.
Think about how you were initially feeling about scrolling or how you felt about letting go of your phone for the day.
Or just even an hour.
I hope that this helps a little bit and I hope that you are able to move throughout your day with grace and ease.
Cheers!
