As the nights close in and the weather starts to feel a bit cooler,

It can feel wonderful to escape to a place that's warm,

Comforting and peaceful.

A place where you can relax that natural hunch against the cold and that urge to brace yourself against the wind.

Let's allow ourselves to escape now.

Let's start by getting comfortable.

Lie down or sit in a way that feels fully supportive.

Connect with where you're seated or lying.

Feel the solid ground beneath you,

The earth gently holding and supporting you.

Now close down your eyes and let's go into the land of imagination.

First,

I want you to imagine a candle.

Its flame is flickering gently,

A warm orange glow.

As you breathe slowly and deeply,

Notice how the flame dances with each breath.

Moving with your rhythm.

Now notice that the candle is in a sturdy holder.

Pick it up and walk forward through the warm,

Comfortable darkness into a cozy room with an open log fire.

The candle and the firelight are the only sources of light,

Casting gentle flickering shadows across the walls.

In front of the fire,

There's a large overstuffed sofa,

Inviting you to sit down and relax.

Set the candle on a side table.

Set the candle on a side table and sink into the sofa.

Feel the warmth of the fire on your skin against your shins,

Your hands,

Your face.

As you gaze into the fire,

Notice how the embers glow and shift.

And listen to the soft,

Comforting crackle of the wood as it burns.

Now lean back,

Maybe pulling a cushion up behind you or tucking your feet up so you feel really snug and supported.

Take a slow,

Deep breath.

And feel the warmth of the fire spreading through you,

Melting away any tension or resistance.

Let each breath bring even more softness,

Warmth and calm.

We'll stay here for a little while,

Simply breathing,

Feeling the warmth on our faces and taking in the calm and peace of this warm,

Cozy room.

When you're ready,

Take a deeper breath and sigh it out.

In your mind,

Picture yourself sitting up on the sofa.

Maybe take a stretch,

Either physically or in your imagination,

And let your eyes gently open to your present space.

See the world around you,

But feel within your heart that safe,

Warm room and know that it's there for you whenever you need to find peace.

Thank you.
