Welcome,
I'm so glad you're here.
This is a reset for moms.
Whether your little one is finally asleep,
Almost asleep or just hoping they will be soon,
Take a breath with me.
Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth.
Maybe you're holding your baby right now.
Maybe your toddler is finally still.
Maybe the house isn't perfectly quiet,
But quieter than it was.
It's okay,
Nap time isn't just for them.
It's for you too.
And I know how quickly the thoughts come in,
I should clean,
I should catch up,
I should be productive.
But for the next few minutes,
You don't have to do anything,
You don't have to keep going,
You don't have to perform.
I want you to just be.
You deserve this pause,
And remember,
You always have permission to pause.
If you can sit or lie down comfortably,
Do so right now.
Unclench your jaw,
Notice if you've been holding tension there.
Let your tongue rest softly in your mouth,
Drop your shoulders away from your ears,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze if you hadn't done so already.
Take a slow breath in through the nose,
And make your exhale just a little longer.
Again,
Inhale,
Longer exhale tells your nervous system,
We are safe.
We are not being chased,
We are not needed for this moment.
Place one hand on your heart,
If it feels comfortable to you,
Feel your heartbeat.
You do so much in a single day,
Planning,
Anticipating,
Remembering,
Holding it all together.
Your body carries the invisible weight of motherhood,
Let this breath be the first thing today that is just for you.
Now,
Bring awareness to your feet,
Feel them on the floor,
Or feel the bed or couch supporting you underneath.
You are being held right now,
You don't have to hold everything.
If guilt tries to sneak in,
For resting or sitting still,
Just notice it and let it soften.
If you want to be more than someone's mom for 10 minutes,
You are still you,
Not just the snack maker,
The scheduler,
The one who knows where everything is.
You are a whole woman.
Take another slow breath,
Imagine the quiet of this moment spreading through your body,
From your chest down into your belly,
Let this quiet soak into you,
Let your nervous system catch up to the stillness,
You don't have to rush back into the noise.
If you've been feeling overstimulated,
Touched out,
On edge,
Pulled in a million directions,
This is your reset.
Say softly to yourself,
Out loud or within,
I am allowed to rest,
I am allowed to pause,
I am allowed to take up space even when I'm not giving.
You are doing better than you think,
Even on the days you lose your patience,
You are still a good mom,
You are doing the best you can.
Motherhood changes shape over time,
But the waves still come,
Hormones shift,
Energy shifts,
Identity shifts.
Some days feel calm,
Some feel choppy,
Roll with the tide darling,
It won't always be smooth sailing,
But it teaches you how to become a skilled sailor.
And you are stronger than you think.
Begin to deepen your breath,
Feeling the room around you,
This quiet may not last forever,
But this feeling can.
Choose one gentle thing you'll do next,
Maybe it's drink your coffee warm,
Sit for another two minutes,
Move slowly instead of rushing,
Or simply breathe one more time before standing up,
Nap time isn't just for them,
It's for you too.
Take one final deep breath in,
Exhale slowly,
When you're ready gently open your eyes,
And maybe,
Just maybe,
Wrap your arms around yourself for a moment,
You showed up for yourself today,
And that,
Carry the softness with you mama,
You've got this.
