Inviting you to find yourself in a comfortable position.
Feet hip width apart.
And just feeling relaxed.
Noticing how your body feels.
Hands placed wherever feels comfortable.
That could be in your pockets,
Or by your side,
Or in front of you.
Just somewhere they feel relaxed.
And if it feels comfortable,
An invitation to close your eyes.
But perhaps,
If in a public space,
This might not feel comfortable.
So you could just lower your gaze to a spot in front of you.
And just notice your breath.
No need to do a special breathing pattern.
Just the natural rhythm with your breath,
However it is.
Maybe this is the first time today you've stopped and paused and noticed your breath.
Just sitting with the inhale,
And the exhale,
And the pauses in between.
And we're going to use our five senses to ground us in this space.
So begin by listening.
Notice what sounds you can hear.
There may be a combination of natural sounds,
Such as birds,
Breeze.
Maybe hearing the trees moving.
And there could also be some human made sounds,
Like traffic,
Voices,
Work being carried out.
All sounds are welcome.
Perhaps turning your attention to the furthest away sound that you can hear.
And then the nearest sound,
Which might even be the sound of your own breath.
Next we're going to move on to the sense of touch.
And you can drop into the sense of touch in any number of ways.
So it could be the sensation of your feet on the ground beneath you.
It could be your clothing against your skin.
Noticing how that feels.
Maybe wherever your hands are placed.
Noticing what your fingers touch,
How that feels.
Or perhaps you might notice the air against your skin,
Maybe as a coolness or a warmth.
And there's no right or wrong here.
And moving on to the sense of smell.
Perhaps taking an inhale here.
And notice what smells you can sense in this space.
And again it could be a combination of natural or human made.
There could be plants,
Flowers that you can smell.
Or there could be human made smells such as perfume or laundry detergent,
Maybe cooking smells.
Just be curious,
No need to name them,
Just notice.
And then moving on to the sense of taste.
This can sometimes be a tricky one and that's okay.
Maybe moving your tongue around and notice if there's any particular tastes in your mouth.
Could be the last thing you ate or drank.
Maybe nothing at all and that's okay.
And then we're going to finish off with the sense of sight.
But before we go to that,
Just a couple breaths just to drop into yourself and notice.
And whenever you're ready,
An invitation to open your eyes if they were closed or raise your gaze.
Just take a look around you in this space.
What do you see?
The light,
The dark,
Shadows,
Patterns,
Colours.
Where are your eyes drawn?
Again there's no right or wrong here.
And just returning to the present moment,
To the now.
Thank you for taking this time for yourself to ground and arrive in the present moment.
Namaste.
