Welcome to your Lunar Eclipse Yoga Nidra practice. During a Lunar Eclipse, the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon, allowing us to face our shadow & observe emotional patterns to help reverse or shift them. For this particular eclipse, the Moon will be swallowed by Ketu, the South Node of the Moon, represented as a headless serpent body. This shadowy point in space is associated with past karma, detachment, the dissolving of illusions and the quest for liberation & spiritual enlightenment. This eclipse is total: the Earth will cast its shadow on the Moon, which will turn red in the sky. This is why it is called a Blood Moon. This practice will allow you to see where your soul longs to go, & reflect on the areas of your life where you need to detach or let go, in order to shine your inner light and activate collective healing. Welcome to your Lunar Eclipse Yoga Nidra practice.

During a Lunar Eclipse,

The Earth casts a shadow on the Moon,

Allowing us to face our shadow and observe emotional patterns to help reverse or shift them.

For this particular eclipse,

The Moon will be swallowed by Ketu,

The South Node of the Moon,

Represented as a headless serpent body.

This shadowy point in space is associated with past Karma,

Detachment,

The dissolving of illusions,

And the quest for liberation and spiritual enlightenment.

This meet-up between the Moon and Ketu happens in a section of the sky called Uttara Phalguni,

A lunar constellation,

Asking us to unite and shine our healing light for our collective growth,

Contributing to the betterment of society.

This practice will allow you to see where your soul longs to go and reflect on the areas of your life where you need to detach or let go in order to shine your inner light and activate collective healing.

Try to stay aware and awake during the practice and simply follow my guidance.

Begin by lying down in Shavasana,

Feet hip-width apart and hands alongside the body,

Palms up.

Make sure you are feeling warm or use a blanket to stay warm as you transition into relaxation.

Make sure you are comfortable,

Then stay completely still for the time of the practice.

Eyes closed,

Become aware of your body lying on the ground.

Take a deep breath and as you exhale,

Relax.

Take another deep breath and as you exhale,

Relax even more.

Take one more deep breath and as you exhale,

Relax completely.

Notice the sounds around you,

Moving from one sound to the next without naming them.

Notice the sounds outside the room.

Notice every single sound.

Now the sounds in the room.

Every single sound.

Listen to my voice guiding you through the practice.

Listen to your breath,

Your heart beating in your chest.

Let go of the sounds now.

Just listen to my voice as I guide you through the practice.

Now create or remember an intention coming from the depth of your heart,

A seed,

Dream or vision you would like to manifest in your life.

Something extremely important to you.

In Yoga Nidra,

This is called your Sankalpa.

Make it a short and simple positive statement in the present tense.

Memorize it word by word.

Then clearly repeat it to yourself mentally with faith and trust three times.

Now let me guide you through parts of the body.

No need to do or think anything.

Just bring your attention to the body parts as I name them while remaining completely still.

Become aware of the space between the eyebrows and bring your attention to the pit of the throat,

The right shoulder,

Right elbow,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Little finger,

Wrist,

Elbow,

Shoulder,

Back to the pit of the throat.

Now bring your attention to the left shoulder,

Right shoulder,

Left elbow,

Wrist,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Little finger,

Wrist,

Elbow,

Shoulder.

Continue to the center of your chest where the ribcage meets.

Then move to the right breast,

Center of the chest,

Left breast.

Center of the chest,

Solar plexus,

Sacral chakra,

Feel the navel.

Move your attention to the right hip,

Right knee,

Big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Fifth toe,

Ankle,

Knee,

Back to the sacral chakra below the navel.

Now bring your awareness to the left hip,

Left knee,

Ankle,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe,

Fifth toe,

Ankle,

Knee,

Back to the sacral chakra below the navel.

Go back to your solar plexus,

Center of the chest,

Feet of the throat,

Back to between the eyebrows.

Feel your whole body.

Feel your whole body together.

Now bring your attention to your breath.

Observe your chest and belly rise and fall smoothly,

Going with ease.

Feel the warmth of your breath through your nostrils with each exhale.

The breath is calm,

Deep.

Prepare to internally count down your breath from 27 to 1 as you observe your chest rise and fall at each count.

If you lose count,

Simply start over.

We will begin together.

Ready?

Inhale 27.

Exhale 27.

Inhale 26.

Exhale 26.

Continue on your own now.

Now,

I'm going to take you through opposite physical sensations.

Imagine the sensations and make them feel real.

Bring about the sensation of coolness.

Notice the coolness in the air.

The coolness on your face.

Coolness on your arms and shoulders.

Feel the coolness in your whole body.

Now,

Reverse the sensation and feel the coolness and feel warmth.

Feel the warmth in your belly,

Spreading throughout your body.

Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.

Feel the warmth in your whole body.

Let go of both sensations now.

Now,

Let me take you on a journey.

Visualize yourself outside on a beautiful sunny day.

High in the sky,

The sun caresses you with its warm golden rays of pure light.

Close your eyes and let the sunlight flow over you like water,

Washing away any impurities from your body and aura.

Let the divine sunlight flow into your being,

Soaking in the sun.

Let the sunlight fill your body until it starts coming out of your pores,

Filling your aura.

Allow the heavenly sun to bring you life strength,

Energy and protection.

Notice your inner light shining through.

Allowing you to express your unique gifts to the world.

The night is now falling.

As the sun goes down,

Grandmother moon rises on the opposite side.

Observe the moon rising higher and higher in the sky.

Now,

High above,

See the earth slowly casting her shadow on the surface of the moon.

Observe Kittu swallowing the moon,

Becoming darker and darker.

As the shadow fully cloaks the moon,

It transforms into a fiery red orb.

Close your eyes and feel the energy of the blood moon as its crimson glow washes over you,

Illuminating the shadows within,

The hidden corners of your soul,

So you can face emotions and calmness.

Allow the blood moon light to flow through you,

Lightening up areas where you need to let go.

What do you need to let go of?

Who are you right now?

And who do you want to be?

Where does your soul long to go?

How can you shine your inner light and make space for collective healing?

As the moon's deep red hue fills the night sky,

See yourself releasing anything you identified as blocking your path to transformation and healing.

Exhale deeply and let go fully.

Now,

Slowly look upon the blood moon.

Feel the balance of light and shadow within you.

Feel your inner power awakening and liberating yourself.

Know that your next steps will show up after eclipse season and trust that you are being guided in the right direction.

Now,

Return to your sankalpa.

Intention you set at the beginning of the practice.

Remember it word by word and repeat it to yourself clearly,

Mentally,

Three times.

Return to your physical body.

Begin to notice your breath.

Feel the support of the ground beneath you.

Now notice the sounds around you.

Maintain your eyes closed and observe the room you are in.

Start to bring gentle movements to your fingertips and toes.

Stretch your arms and your whole body.

You can stay on your back and allow yourself to fall into a deep restorative sleep.

Or with eyes closed fall to the right side and slowly come up to sit.

Feel the after effect of the practice.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.
