For the days when you feel like you weren’t productive enough or didn’t accomplish all of the things you intended to do. This meditation can either be used to help quiet a restless mind as you transition into the end of the day or to gently lull you to sleep at night. No matter what you got done today, let the experience of being a human being living on this day be enough. Music Credit: Ashot Danielyan

Good evening.

Take a little time to find yourself here,

Getting comfortable.

Give yourself a couple of breaths,

Gently making your way into this moment and back to yourself.

As the day begins to give way to the night,

You can settle in.

As you breathe here,

With each exhale,

Invite the parts of you that are still tethered to the day to begin to release.

Allow your breath to support you in being right here,

Right now.

Maybe sensing the darkness.

Feel the powering down.

And know that as you settle into this evening,

You have done everything you need to do.

It is time to allow yourself to transition,

Turning towards rest,

Allowing your body to nourish itself.

As we are awake and moving about through our day,

So much happens.

We tend to our to-do list.

We take in so much information,

Make decisions,

Contemplations,

And all of these activities result in a kind of momentum that keeps us pushing through,

Moving through the day.

Sometimes we remember to pause,

Take a quiet moment,

And sometimes we don't do that until the end of our day.

Let yourself find that pause now.

Breathe into a deeper wisdom,

Knowing that what you got done today was enough.

Even if it wasn't everything you expected to get done,

It was enough.

What would it feel like in this moment to know that what you did today was actually the perfect amount?

That everything you needed to get done,

Got done.

Feel what happens in your body as you reflect on that.

Maybe there is a softening.

What are the parts of you that feel relief?

Let yourself feel this relief now.

Notice if there are parts of you that want to argue that you didn't get everything done that you needed to.

And if these parts are showing up now,

Comfort them.

Let them know that it really is okay,

Because the evening is here.

The time has come for rest.

My friend,

How well would you rest tonight if you went to bed feeling grateful and accomplished?

This is the beautiful choice in front of you.

Allow yourself to take it.

Allow yourself to make this choice.

Breathe in.

Let it go.

Consider all the many parts of you that showed up today,

All the things you did,

And whisper thank you.

You can rest now.

Allow yourself to release the story that says you should have done more or you could have done more.

Be here now,

Inviting your body to soften.

Yield into the darkness and the invitation to rest.

Invite your forehead and your temples to relax,

Your jaw to release.

Tell your shoulders they can rest now.

Feel yourself being held by the surface beneath you.

Yield into that support.

You've done so much today,

And now it's time to rest.

Let the rhythm of your body breathing feel like a lullaby,

Gently guiding you to rest.

Thank you body,

Thank you mind,

You can rest now.

Give yourself some more time here,

Allowing the music to wash over you,

Allowing your thoughts to settle,

Your body to soften.

And as you rest tonight,

Do so knowing you've done enough.

The day is done.

The evening has come.

You've done enough.

You have plenty of time tomorrow to get back to doing,

But for tonight,

Allow yourself to just be.

Wishing you a wonderful night's rest,

From my heart to yours.

I love this fresh approach to a sleep, meditation. Such a gentle guidance helping us to let go and just simply fall into rest. Just beautiful.

This was so beautiful, calming and soothing. The perfect meditation to prepare you to sleep and reminding yourself that you did enough today. Thank you so much! Will go back to this often.
