Welcome to this peaceful morning meditation.
Start by finding a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
Maybe close your eyes or let your gaze be soft.
Notice where your body makes contact with the seat or surface supporting you.
And let yourself be held.
Turn your attention to the breath,
Not needing to change anything.
Just noticing the rhythm of your inhales and your exhales.
Bring to mind something you are grateful for.
Maybe the sun peeking up over the horizon,
A quiet house before the children wake,
Or the aroma of your coffee or tea.
Feel the warmth of gratitude centered around your heart.
And then allow it to spread,
Extending to fill your lungs on your inhale.
And on your exhale,
Flowing out towards your shoulders,
Arms,
Head and neck,
Down your back and your abdomen and your legs.
Allow yourself to feel enveloped in this sense of gratitude.
Maybe for your many blessings or maybe focusing on just one.
Picture the day ahead and the people you'll likely encounter today.
Envision yourself interacting with them with kindness from a place of love.
Now bring your attention to your plans for this day.
How can you approach your tasks from the sense of grounding and peace?
Picture your favorite self.
Maybe you'd like to be calm,
Joyful,
Kind,
Productive,
Energized.
What small step can you take to move yourself towards that vision?
Draw your attention back to this present moment.
Bring some movement back into the body.
Take a deep breath in and let it all go.
Maybe bring a hand to your heart to seal your practice.
