The journey to overcoming anxiety starts with recognizing it as a messenger from within urging us to rest.

Welcome to this series of meditation tracks.

In this series I aim to talk about anxiety in a different way and create space for insight and reflection for you so that you can see something new about your anxious thoughts.

Believe me I understand how debilitating anxiety can be and I want you to know that there is a way through as anxious thoughts are not you but they are happening to you.

Make yourself a little more comfortable,

Leave everything behind,

Let go of expectations,

Let go of judgments and allow yourself the gift of these few minutes together.

If you feel comfortable to do so close your eyes or lower your gaze and allow your breathing to settle into a deep rhythmic pattern.

There's nothing to attend to,

Nothing to do,

Nowhere to be.

I invite you to listen to today's quote again and see what it means to you.

The journey to overcoming anxiety starts with recognizing it as a messenger from within urging us to rest.

Take a moment to let the quote sink in,

Allow yourself to gently absorb its meaning feeling the words resonate within you.

Breathe deeply and as you do feel the wisdom of the quote settle into your mind and heart.

What does this quote mean to you?

Reflect on its message.

How does it speak to your current experience and understanding of anxiety?

Perhaps it invites you to see anxiety in a new light,

Not as an enemy but as a guide.

Now take a moment to check in with yourself.

How do you feel right now as you contemplate this quote?

Notice any emotions,

Thoughts or physical sensations that arise.

Be gentle with yourself as you explore these feelings.

Where in your life is this quote true?

Can you identify areas where your anxiety may be trying to tell you that you need rest?

Think about the times when you felt anxious and consider those moments.

How was your state of mind at that time?

What resistance do you have to this idea?

Are there parts of you that find it difficult to accept anxiety as a messenger?

Explore your doubts and hesitations.

If it pleases you,

Take a few moments to journal your thoughts.

Writing can be a powerful way to accept a new reality.

It is also valid just to take the time to relax and enjoy the music.

I'll give you a few examples of what I mean by this.

Let me share a story to illustrate this quote.

There was a time when I was constantly anxious about my work.

The deadlines,

The expectations,

The relentless pace.

It all felt so overwhelming.

One day during a particular lecture,

I was listening to a piece of music that I had been listening to for a long time.

The expectations,

The relentless pace.

It all felt so overwhelming.

One day during a particularly stressful period,

I somehow knew to take a step back.

I really listened to the anxiety within me.

I realized it wasn't telling me to work hard and be better and keep going.

It was actually telling me that I wasn't aligned with my true values.

I valued creativity,

Flexibility and meaningful connections.

Now it might seem as though the best thing to do would be to leave that job.

But I realized that my thoughts about my work weren't allowing me to be creative and flexible.

My thoughts about the tasks in hand were just building more and more pressure.

Recognizing this,

I made a conscious decision to bring more creativity and joy into my daily work.

That internal shift allowed my anxiety to dissipate.

I found a greater sense of peace and fulfillment,

Even without changing the things that I was doing.

As you reflect on this story,

Does it change you?

Does it change your perspective on the quote?

Do you see anxiety differently now?

How might recognizing anxiety as a messenger help you notice when you need to listen deeper?

Imagine what changes you could make if you honored the message your anxiety is sending you.

I'll give you some more time to reflect on these thoughts.

Allow yourself to sit with any new insights or realizations.

Don't worry if you can't see anything new right now.

You've already opened your mind to new possibilities.

Insight will follow in its own time.

For a more in-depth exploration,

I invite you to check out the playlist in my profile called Anxiety.

And you might enjoy the course,

How to Make Decisions You Can Trust.

As it provides practical strategies and insights to help you develop decision-making skills that you can rely on,

Fostering confidence and clarity in your daily life.

Thank you for joining me in this meditation.

May you continue to explore the idea of anxiety as a message to rest and find the calm and fulfillment that come from living authentically.

Lots of love.

Thank you Jacqueline. I experienced a lot of anxiety last year and didn’t really appreciate it at the time but, yes, it was a messenger and ultimately my guide 🙏🏼 Good to connect with you here 😀
