This is an inner child meditation.

This meditation will support you in meeting the inner child and connecting with them in a very simple and practical way.

Thank you for joining me.

I hope you enjoy this meditation.

Please find a comfortable seat or lie down.

Bring your attention to your breath.

Notice the quality of your breath without judgment.

Begin to deepen your breath by filling your belly and chest.

Allow the breath to travel up your chest on the inhale and down your diaphragm on the exhale.

The diaphragm is above the pelvic floor and below the chest in the belly region.

Continue for a few moments like this,

Receiving the breath rather than taking it.

Now from this regulated place imagine yourself as a child.

Bring to mind yourself as a child.

See all the details,

The age,

The clothing,

The stance,

Body language,

Facial expressions.

Imagine that this version of you is sitting across from you.

Maybe they are playing with their favorite toy or simply sitting or playfully moving or chatting.

Notice what they are expressing to you.

Introduce yourself.

You may say hi or any phrase that you feel called to say.

Tell them I see you,

I hear you and I love you.

I accept you as you are.

Allow them a few moments to take this in and respond as they feel comfortable.

You simply hold space as you come back to your breath.

Deepen your breath by filling your mid-belly.

Allow the breath to travel up to your chest on the inhale,

Down to your diaphragm on the exhale.

Continue like this for a few moments.

Listen and observe to the inner child.

When you both feel complete,

Let them know that we are closing.

Tell them I am here for you always.

Thank your inner child for allowing you to see them.

And if they did not want to be seen,

Tell them it's okay.

And thank them for doing what feels right for them.

Thank yourself for your openness to meet your inner child.

Maybe give yourself a hug.

As you do this,

Release the image of your inner younger self.

Take a few deep breaths and notice what you're feeling,

Particularly in the belly,

Chest and throat area.

It's no judgement,

You're just noticing feelings.

Once you have that information,

Label it in your mind.

When you feel complete,

Wiggle your toes and fingers.

Stretch your body.

Feel free to take a moment to journal your experience.

Meeting our inner child can be challenging at first,

But with time and practice,

And most of all patience,

It will get easier.

And the rewards are feeling more connected to that vulnerable and playful version of yourself.

Thank you for practicing with me.

Have a wonderful day or night.
