A visual reset to calm the nervous system in 3:20. In my work monitoring the nervous system during brain and spine surgery, I’ve seen how small adjustments create meaningful shifts. This practice uses visual orientation rather than breath control—softening the gaze and widening the field of view to reduce urgency and support regulation. No forcing, no zoning out—just small input, clear shift.

Hi,

I'm Jeremy.

In my work with the nervous system,

I've learned that small adjustments change everything.

The system doesn't need intensity.

It responds to precision.

Two percent,

Not as math,

As a reminder not to overdo it.

Today,

We're working with vision.

Before your heart changes,

Before your breath shifts,

Your brain checks the environment.

It does that mostly through your eyes.

So let's begin.

Choose a steady position.

Sit,

Stand,

Or lie down.

There's no correct posture.

Make sure your body feels supported.

Not rigid,

Not collapsing,

Just steady.

Keep your eyes open.

Let your gaze rest somewhere neutral.

Nothing important.

Now notice how your eyes are focusing.

Most of us focus sharply.

We narrow in.

That narrowing in tells the nervous system to prepare.

So gently widen your field of vision.

Without moving your head,

Become aware of what you can see at the edges.

Peripheral vision.

Don't stare.

Don't blur your eyes.

Just soften the focus slightly.

Let more of the room enter your awareness.

When your visual field widens,

The nervous system detects more space.

More space means less urgency.

Keep breathing naturally through your nose.

No need to change it.

Just notice what happens when your eyes soften.

If your focus sharpens again,

Soften it slightly.

2%.

Now check your jaw.

The eyes and the jaw are closely linked in the brainstem.

If the eyes tighten,

The jaw often tightens.

Let the jaw soften.

Let your tongue relax.

Now check your shoulders.

Is there room for them to drop?

Nothing dramatic.

Just enough.

Maybe 2%.

Stay here.

Soft eyes,

Soft focus,

Wide awareness,

Minimal effort.

You are not zoning out.

You are expanding your field.

If your mind drifts,

Return to your vision.

Notice the edges.

2% softer,

2% wider.

That's enough.

Now let your gaze settle naturally.

Still open,

Still relaxed.

Take one easy breath through your nose and let it go without drama.
