Welcome to Somatic Signal.
I'm Jeremy,
A neurophysiologist.
If you wake up with morning jitters,
Anxiety,
Or physical bracing.
Your system might be running too fast.
Generic breathing exercises or forced positive thinking probably won't fix a sympathetic spike.
Targeted hardware inputs might.
In this less than five minute reset.
We use rhythmic exhalations and motor overrides to activate your biological vagal brake.
This turns down the stress dial.
And it gives you a chance to ground your nervous system in a calm stability.
Let's try it.
She likes it upright.
Check your posture.
Let's see that you're activated.
Let's see that there's ease and effort both there.
Feel your feet.
Slide on the floor and let your hands rest naturally.
You might try palms up or palms down.
Just notice the difference.
I start with immediate physical releases.
Your jaw.
This is where stress signals land first,
Creating motor overflow.
See if you can drop your teeth apart,
Loosen your jaw.
And let your tongue fall away from the roof of your mouth.
Now on a natural inhale through your nose if possible.
Squeeze your shoulders high up towards your ears.
And on a long,
Unhurried exhale,
Completely drop them down.
And open your hands and let your fingers uncurl.
And laying them palms up on your thighs.
These quick motor releases.
.
.
It signals directly to your brainstem.
And their immediate feedback that the environment is safe.
Now let's calibrate your heart rate.
And we can do it rhythmically.
Inhale slowly through your nose.
Or a four count if you like.
And exhale smoothly through your nose.
Maybe for a count of eight.
Inhale at your pace.
And exhale,
Slow and unhurried,
Maybe for a count of eight.
And on your next inhale,
Maybe a count of four.
And on your next exhale,
Unhurried.
Can be a can of eight.
This extending of your exhale,
Double the length of your inhale.
It directly stimulates the vagus nerve.
This signals the cardiac break to slow your pulse.
And lower systemic blood pressure.
You might feel your body settling firmly into the chair with each long release.
And just notice here.
.
.
Is there anything softer?
More stable.
Or more steady in a baseline in your chest and your shoulders.
