Welcome to this meditation on finding gold in today.
So come in wherever you are.
Whatever kind of day it's been.
You don't need to pretend it's been a good one.
You just need to be here for a few moments.
So settle yourself in.
Sit comfortably.
Let your shoulders relax.
Nothing more to do for a moment.
And today we're going to think honestly with ourselves a standard gratitude practice doesn't always work when things are hard.
Sometimes when we're told to count our blessings,
When we're already struggling.
Feels like being told to sing underwater.
So I'm not asking you to do that.
As you settle.
Breathe in.
We're going to just lift.
Or something smaller.
Maybe a little more honest.
We're just looking for a little gold.
Gold doesn't have to be big.
And it doesn't have to be life-changing.
You can choose the smallest possible thing that was just authentically okay today.
It might be as simple as your coffee or tea that was exactly the right temperature.
Maybe a cloud moved and there was light for 30 seconds.
Maybe someone held the door open for you.
Or a song that came on was something you really liked.
Which is tiny and unremarkable to anyone else.
But it's real.
That's enough.
So close your eyes if you haven't already.
And take a slow breath.
Let yourself look back over today,
This morning,
Maybe last night or yesterday.
And skim over what went wrong or what was hard.
Don't look at what you feel you didn't manage.
Just look for that one small piece of gold.
You don't have to have found something significant.
Sometimes even noticing the absence of something bad is gold.
Even making it through a hard day is gold.
So,
Let's breathe a little gratitude just into that small thing,
Whatever it was.
Breathe in and let yourself feel that it was there.
And as you breathe out Just say thank you.
Breathe in and let it be enough.
And breathe out and release the need for today,
For the night,
For yesterday to have been more.
And I'm going to offer you some affirmations.
So let them land where they can.
And you can repeat them after me if you feel moved to,
Either out loud or in your head.
Or you can simply let my voice carry the energy for you.
I do not need a perfect day to find something good in it.
Small joys are real joys.
I notice the gold,
However tiny.
I am grateful for making it through.
There is always something if I let go.
Today had something worth keeping.
Whatever today was,
You moved through it.
And that counts as gold.
So,
Rest now,
Whatever you're doing next.
And tomorrow you get to look for more.
Thank you so much for sharing your space with me today.
Have a wonderful day.
