Welcome to this meditation for meeting overwhelm.
I invite you to find a position that lets your body soften.
Close your eyes if it feels good.
And let yourself.
Arrive in the space.
Pay attention to your breathing without changing anything.
Breathe at your own pace.
And as you breathe.
Let your shoulders settle.
Your jaw and your face.
Allow your body to feel supported by whatever you're sitting or lying on.
Notice if you have tension in your hands.
In your hips.
Notice if it's okay to let your feet be still.
And say a quick thank you to yourself for making time for yourself today.
This is really valuable.
And so take a conscious breath in,
And when you let it out,
Let the exhale be longer.
And if you're feeling overwhelmed right now,
You don't need to make that feeling smaller before we begin.
It can be as big as it is.
Notice where you're feeling overwhelmed in your body.
It might be the chest and your tummy.
There might be a tightness across the shoulders.
It might just be all overage.
Wherever it is,
Just place your attention there gently.
No judgement.
Just curiosity.
You just observing.
And for this time now,
You don't need to solve everything that's contributing to this feeling.
You're not solving anything right now.
You are simply staying with the sensation.
And letting it be witnessed.
So gently breathe into that place.
Whether it's a specific part of your body or all of it.
Just breathe in as best you can.
Not to force it away,
But just to bring a little space around it.
Imagine as you breathe,
As you inhale.
That air is going.
Into that feeling.
Is adding space within it.
It's maybe stretching out some of the heaviness or weight or discomfort.
You're not trying to force it away.
As your breathing thinks.
The overwhelm often comes from trying to hold on to too many things at once.
Both in your mind and in your body.
So for the next few breaths Allow those things to just be there.
In that space.
They're not going anywhere,
But you just hold wanting.
Just your breath.
Steady and slow.
In and out.
And if you can slow your breath then do.
And if that slowing makes you feel uncomfortable,
Just go at your own pace.
There's no right or wrong.
Right here and now,
There's nothing you need to do.
Your most important job is to care for yourself.
Breathe steady.
If your mind pulls you back to the list of things that are pressing on you.
And just gently and without frustration.
Bring your attention back to your breath.
Again and again if needed.
That is simply what this practice is.
And if you like.
You can imagine with each breath.
That you're creating a buffer.
Each breath just puts a small distance between you.
And the feeling of overwhelm.
The discomfort.
You're not pushing it away.
You're not resisting.
You're just allowing yourself to exist separately.
From that feeling.
You don't have to fix your whole life in the next few minutes.
Just keep breathing through.
And when you're ready,
Take one more slow breath all the way in.
And bring your awareness back to the room around you.
Open your eyes.
Remember that your breath is always here.
Always able to provide that small buffer of safety.
Around yourself.
Remember you can come back to this anytime you need to.
Thank you so much for sharing your space with me today.
Have a wonderful day.
