Hi,
I'm Lisa and welcome to this guided meditation for breaking a bad habit.
Let's begin.
Come into a comfortable seated position,
Either on a chair or on the floor,
Making sure that the spine is erect and tall,
Allowing the eyes to close,
Softening the jaws,
Widening the eyebrows,
Softening the face like it is at the beginning of a smile,
Releasing any tension in the shoulders,
Letting the shoulders go,
Noticing the back,
Noticing the chest area,
Consciously relaxing,
Consciously releasing,
Noticing the arms and the hands,
Moving down to the abdomen,
The pelvis,
Down to the hips,
The thighs,
Legs,
Feet,
Breathing into the whole of your body,
Releasing,
Relaxing,
And now working with the breath,
Deep inhale,
Hold for a moment,
Slow exhale,
A few more times,
Deep inhale,
Pause for a moment,
Slow exhale,
Sending your breath into your body,
Following the whole cycle of breath,
Noticing how the breath enters the body,
Noticing the pause of the breath,
And noticing it as it leaves from the body.
Taking awareness to the mind now,
Observe if there are any thoughts that are present in your mind,
Acknowledge them,
And with love and kindness let them go.
If they come again,
Just let them be.
Acknowledge them,
And with love and kindness let them go.
Now bring to mind a habit that you would like to change,
Taking some time to feel the energy of this habit.
What does this habit that you want to change enable you to do?
Does it help you with stress?
Does it help you deal with boredom?
Does it want to stay because it feels easy?
When do you engage in this habit?
What are the triggers?
How does having this habit make you feel?
How does it make you feel about yourself?
Spend some time in complete awareness of this habit.
Feel the power of this habit.
Feel the energy of this habit.
Now bring awareness to the weakness of this habit.
Think about the qualities you need to break this habit.
Think about the times you have exhibited these same qualities.
All those times when you have found these qualities inside of you.
Feel your power to break this habit.
Feel how easy it is for you to break this habit.
Now bring to mind a new habit to replace this old habit.
Take some time to familiarize yourself with this new habit.
Visualize yourself with this new habit.
Visualize yourself being your best self.
Self committed.
Self reliant.
Visualize yourself succeeding.
Visualize yourself making choices that reinforce this new habit.
Now every day,
Every time you make positive decisions,
See yourself taking those actions.
See how this new habit is wonderful for your mind and body.
Visualize how this new habit makes you feel.
How does it make you feel about yourself?
Notice how proud you are.
How happy,
How peaceful.
And how easy it is for you to live with this new habit.
To choose this new habit.
Now taking awareness to the breath,
Breathe in deeply.
Hold for a moment.
Breathe out slowly.
One more time.
Deep breath in.
Hold for a moment.
Slow breath out.
Repeat these affirmations silently in your mind or out loud.
My habits support me in positive ways.
I always do what is best for my body.
I always do what is best for my mind.
It is easy for me to make positive choices for my mind and body.
Every day I do my best to nourish and nurture my body and mind.
I take care of myself.
I commit to myself.
I love myself.
My habits support me in positive ways.
I always do what is best for my body.
I always do what is best for my mind.
It is easy for me to make positive choices for my mind and body.
Every day I do my best to nourish and nurture my body and mind.
I take care of myself.
I commit to myself.
I love myself.
Return your awareness to your breathing.
Breathing in.
Holding it there.
And in your own time,
Breathing out.
As we near the end of this meditation,
Remember that it is okay to falter.
We are all human.
With love and compassion towards yourself,
Return your awareness to your body.
Gently wiggle your toes and fingers,
And when you feel ready,
Open your eyes.
Thank you for being here today.
Namaste.
